The French Goat

This place is absolutely amazing!! We were celebrating my niece's birthday. We had never been there. The decor was beautiful. The atmosphere was welcoming and the food and cocktails were over the top!! I had the goat burger which was cooked to perfection. Our server was attentive and you could tell she loved her job. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. 5+Stars!!

Happened upon this little porch while walking through the neighborhood looking at the surrounding houses.

Walked up past the goat wearing a hat, to the door, and in we went on a whim. Little did we know we found a wonderful brunch spot!

" do you have a reservation?", asked the gentleman from behind his mask. "No, sure don't. Just walking by and thought we'd stop in."

"No problem, we have a table ready outside on the porch if you'd like."

What had we found? The only place in town that makes mouthwatering dishes, second only to my wife's cooking :)

If you are looking for that "wow, i can't believe how good this is" restaurant, then stumble into this little home away from home, and prepare to smile.

This lovely, unassuming restaurant in Lewisburg West Virginia was delightful. The wait staff was knowledgeable, friendly and highly professional. The food was delicious on every front. I enjoyed some oysters on the half shell, crab wrapped in compressed cantaloupe and for my main course I enjoyed a beautiful duck confit. For dessert I had an amazing cheesecake like nothing I've ever had before. It was silky and delicious. A beautiful Zinfandel wine accompanied my meal. My friends and I were wonderfully delighted. I can't wait to go back.

My wife and I are from Savannah, GA which is considered by many as one of the food capitols of the south. We are used to great food and I’ll say that The French Goat can compete with any top restaurant in Savannah. I had the halibut special and she had the duck, and both dishes made us pause and close our eyes upon taking the first bite. Everything we ate here was prepared perfectly and the service was top notch! The owner of the restaurant was up front hosting and was very delightful. On our next trip to Lewisburg, we will definitely be making more than one reservation.

Service, food, drinks and ambiance. Do yourself a favor and get the burger mid rare. OMG!

Phenomenal experience. - last night we had dinner at Prime 44, which was great, but felt very commercial or like a franchise.
Contrasting that dinner, The French Goat felt like a very personal experience. The food was exquisite, and from the heart. The service team was just as phenomenal.

My boyfriend and I came in for dinner, we were pleasantly surprised at the charm of the place. Glad to see everyone was dressed to code. Staff was knowledgeable and so friendly. We have always spent our time at the greenbrier but decided to venture out and we are so glad we did. The food was amazing. The prices for wine bottles were fairly cheap. The dessert is a must. 10/10 recommend.

Delicious food and professional service in a classic French restaurant environment just a touch to the casual side. Menu was creative and well prepared, wine list was extensive and well put together without being intimidating. Cocktails were inventive and flavorful. Our group was well taken care of and service was on point. Would recommend.
