Amazing chai latte. They had 3 non-dairy options, including oatmilk which is nice and creamy. Seating is very limited...4 2-top tables, 4 window-facing barstools, and 2 barstools at the register. Plan accordingly! Worth it just to drop in for a quick drink. They don't have gluten free food options, so I can't speak to those.

I appreciated the small menu + its presentation in a large sans serif font! I usually struggle with walking in a new restaurant/shop and ordering off of the menu from door to register bc the menu is usually difficult to read without getting closer, but BHC didn't have that problem. Additionally, the service is quick and friendly

Superb coffee. This quaint little coffee shop is tucked away on a corner of one of the most interesting neighborhoods of Richmond VA. Blackhand Coffee roasts their own beans and achieves that rare combination of full flavor without the bitterness or scorched flavor that most others seem to suffer from. The shop is small and popular, so if you're okay with the mass produced and harsh coffee that the chains offer, leave this place to drinkers that appreciate a superb cuppa joe.

Solid coffee, great little breakfast menu, and cool staff make this the neighborhood coffee spot. Free WiFi, limited seating. Nice outdoor area adjacent to the building with picnic tables to sit with pets.

I bought a pound of the Sumatra at Union Market. The bag says dark roast with 5 or 6 black circles on the back of the bag. It is at best a medium roast. It is good coffee but I never drink light to medium roast and was tempted to take it back but didnt feel like hassling with it. From what i can tell the only dark roast that they have is the Espresso.

The coffee was good, not great. I got the cold brew, and it just tasted like regular old iced coffee to me, nothing special. What really got me are the bagels - they were also nothing special for sure and over toasted, and I saw the preparer using those little mini tubs of Philidelphia cream cheese on my bagel. Like, that is literally what you would get at a Wawa or Starbucks. Compare this to many other great, independent roasteries I've been to in DC, MD, and VA, and they've used good fresh bagels and real, good cream cheese. And they didnt make bagels the star of their food menu, like Black Hand did.

One of the best coffee places in town. Their iced coffee is incredibly smooth and, with cream, tastes kind of like how coffee ice cream tastes, which is awesome. You can also buy half-gallons of cold drip ready to go.

One thing I can say about this place is that they make great lattes. You've got to try their black eye or dirty chai if you're in the Upper Fan. They also have kombucha for those hot days. I can't say much for the atmosphere though. It's a little right-wing for my taste. Most of the patrons are conventional, conservative business types and old rednecks who sit around talking about the greatness of Donald Trump and the GOP, and even Jesus. Call me an old hippie, but this is not exactly the kind of talk which is good for the digestion, so if I go there, I normally place my order, get it and run. If you're a Republican, this is definitely the cafe for you. If not, you may want to keep looking. Cheers!

Good coffee. Great bagel sandwich. Bit of a line. Small joint

Coffee was perfect, atmosphere is nice. However, we went on a Sunday morning and they were a little busy. Not normally a problem, but the cashier was rude and obviously wanted us to move along.
