Far and away the best coffee shop in Middlebury. Probably the best in all of Vermont. Matt and Alice are serious about top-notch coffee, and they're happy to tell you all about things like coffee production and flavor profiles if you ask. They've decorated the place with a sense of laid-back minimalist zen, and they play an eclectic mix of excellent music to complete the vibe. There's also plenty of seating and outlets to plug in your devices, plus free Wi-Fi. This place has everything you could ask for in a coffee shop.

Before moving to Vermont, I lived in Brooklyn for five years and was spoiled by great coffee. Middlebury had that for a brief time courtesy of Cursive Coffee. When they got pushed out by horrendous landlords I didn’t think this town would ever provide great coffee again.

ENTER ROYAL OAK COFFEE.

Matt and Aless not only provide the exquisite quality of coffee that I expect, but they’re the nicest people I’ve ever met to run a coffee shop. The attention to detail that they’ve put into their shop provides a warm and inviting atmosphere.

If you live in or near Middlebury, there is no substitute. This is the best coffee in town.

The people here are excellent and their coffee is amazing. Id say they are the best coffee shop in middlebury. Even though they just started out with there buisness in this small town this a small cozy coffee shop with friendly people. Id recommend the iced shaken maple latte

Not a ton of space inside, so expect to be pretty cozy with other patrons. Service and coffee well done and delicious respectively. Hiking the NCT and stopped down as a destination today.

Super delicious muffins and coffee, very friendly and kind staff. I appreciate how you can order oat milk with your beverage! Awesome prices too on everything available.

Excellent cafe mocha. Enjoyed the sunny space with counter-style seating.

This is my favorite latte place. Maple, mocha, and cardamom vanilla are all awesome. They use real chocolate for the mocha!

Cannot recommend Royal Oak enough! The coffee is top notch and the owners are so lovely and knowledgeable. Having speciality coffee available in Middlebury has changed our time here for the better!
