Came during breakfast time and got my order served during lunch.

Waited over an hour without a heads up. Absolutely dont mind waiting but just mentioning it while placing the order would help

Gotta love Vermont!
This small coffee shop has a special attention to the ingredients and this reflects in the awesome taste of their meals.

The weekend service has always been great - and it's what has kept me coming back. However, over the past month I have come in on a weekday twice and have been thoroughly unimpressed. The first time it took over 40 minutes for a breakfast sandwich and scrambled eggs. The food was good enough for me to give it another try. When I stopped in for breakfast recently, I ordered blueberry pancakes. The blueberries were essentially still frozen when they were served - about 20 minutes after I ordered, though the restaurant was not busy. Perhaps if the staff spent as much time talking to each other as they did preparing food, the food would arrive quicker and warmer. I am seriously disappointed because I think that Essex deserves a great breakfast place. If the weekday staff stepped up as much as the weekend staff, this could be a consistent establishment.

Just like the most recent review I read about firebird I wish I didn't need to leave this review. I never do unless I feel it's truly needed. When it was down the road on pearl st. Things were much better. There has been some sort of trouble or issue probably the last 3 times I have ordered food. It's not the food quality although that has slowly gone down hill as well but it's the employees. They simply just don't care about giving good service and with the owner Jake who seems to be less an less involved I would expect more from. I live 15 minutes away and after sitting on hold the first 10 minutes on my way to the restaurant I finally gave up and when I got there the phone was just still sitting off the hook face down at the register (not the first time this has happened) meaning I would have still been sitting on hold and after groaning that she had to leave the grill area eventually helped me. The employees act as if it's a burden to provide customer service and in today's restaurant industry it should be the opposite. I hope things change or I see a bleek future and another restaurant going down the toilet.

Had breakfast here. Amazing quality of food. Quantity was perfect. Home fried potatoes had flavor and weren't over cooked. Chorizo Omlet was the star of the plate! Light omelet with, what I found out later, HOMEMADE Chorizo. This was no middle of Vermont Whitemans Chorizo. Was in New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona 3 months ago, this was Damn Good, Flavorful, well balanced heat and spice, Chorizo!
My wife had the Chorizo Benedict with Poblano Creame Sauce instead of the classic Hollandaise Sauce. Again well balanced flavor and a perfectly poached egg.
Wish we had discovered Firebird a month ago, would of eaten there every week.

As a resident of Essex Junction, this is by far the best breakfast and lunch spot in the area.

Glad we took this detour on the way to Boston from Montreal. One of the better eggs benedicts I've had.

Terrible experience both times I have been here. First time it took 20 minutes for scrambled eggs and bacon. Eggs were burnt and the place was not busy. I wanted to give it a second try and placed a to go order. I arrived 20 minutes later to pick it up and the person at the counter never entered my order in the computer. There was no sorry we made a mistake. Just asked if I wanted to wait for it to be made.

Was nice, food was good, hot, fresh. Service good. A little on the pricey side. But still decent breakfast place. It’s nice to have a nice breakfast somewhere different rather than just always Denny’s or ihop😉

The food is as good as ever. The new building is sunny and spacious. Unfortunately there is no buffer between the front door and the seating area and the large glass garage doors aren't insulated. The result was that on the cold morning we were there (15f) it was really cold inside. All patrons were wearing hats and jackets and my toes never warmed up. I'll go back but not until spring.
