This restaurant is in a great location downtown Abilene. It is absolutely beautiful weather you sit inside or outside. Unfortunately the food was over all unimpressive. The food was not bad It just wasn’t great. I would still come here on occasion just for the atmosphere itself. The space is very unique and the staff is very friendly.

We threw a graduation party here, and it was amazing! Ky did a fantastic job helping us put together the perfect menu, and answering all our questions. The food was great as was the self poor beer tab! Will definitely use in the future.

COFFEE! Grain Theory's barista experience is a little piece of Europe in Abilene TX. If you want real espresso or the a true macchiato that actually has coffee as the main flavor (not pure sugar) then Grain Theory is the perfect cup and atmosphere. I personally enjoy sampling a new roast and a new brew method each time I visit, they roast right on the premises and have drip, pour overs, cold brew and all other usual suspects, their cappuccino is on pare with the best Italian cafe - I'm a kid in the candy store. Today I tried the newer Japanese cold brew and got to pick my bean, I recommend the Guatemalan Honey processed. It's so good I bought a bag. Oh yeah, and all the other reviews on food and drink are correct in the continuity of quality - the quinoa bowl with that amazing marinated chicken, amazing - what an amazing jewel in downtown Abilene.

We enjoyed every bit of our time at Grain Theory. The food was incredible. We had pretzel bites, biltong, loaded frites, dipping sauces, fish and chips, sausage tray, and chicken roll. Everything was so delicious, fresh, hot when needed, and relatively fast. The beers were also very good. I am not a beer drinker, but I truly enjoyed the ones I sampled. The serve yourself tap wall was so fun! We look forward to our next visit!!

They have really good beers here, not overly hoppy, very drinkable! A pleasant surprise in Abilene. I didn't really care for their fries/frites at all, surprisingly. I know steak fries are supposed to be potato-y and thick, which I love! But these were borderline... doughy? Perhaps undercooked? The dipping sauces we sampled were delicious and I liked the batter on the fried fish. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. We'll be back.

It’s safe to say my husband and I are obsessed with Grain Theory! We eat at GT about once a week! The beer selection is unique, delicious, and always has new surprises! We love the food! Robbie, the chef, is brilliant! We were reminded tonight just how special the food is at GT when we ordered steak frites at a swanky restaurant in Orlando, FL. They were good, but not even close to the incredible steak frites at Grain Theory. Do yourself a favor and get yourself to Grain Theory! It’s definitely one of a kind!

A spectacular spot to go for a beer, wine, coffee, and even great food. The space itself is awesome. Open to the outdoors, inside tables, perimeter patio on the 2nd level with views of downtown streets. Really cool set up. The food menu is well above average with a good diversity of delicious apps and plates to pair with your drinks. I have not gotten their coffee yet on my visits but the wine and beer is truly worth trying out. David and Jeremy are two of the 3 owners I got to meet and chat with for a bit and they are amazing people doing some great stuff for their customers. The stuff they think up is just amazing. You see it in their beer and their food. I love the biltong as an appetizer and then the international sausage plate is a must in my book! The crudite plate is also a nice touch to pair with wine and beer of course. They have some kind of beer for every palate, even a picky beer person like me can be pleased. Even when busy this place has a good system for keeping orders coming out fast, you never wait too long for food to come out consistently good each time. Just a really darn good place to come for unique craft beer, good wine, great food, affordable prices and good times all round.

Visited on opening day with a couple friends and had a BLAST! It was so fun there and the drinks were delicious!! Customer service was great also; everyone knew what they were talking about when it came to drink suggestions. Plus prices were very reasonable. I also enjoyed how fast the service was; I wasn’t even done paying before they had my drink ready!
I’m not a huge “crowded/noisy bar” fan so it was refreshing that the atmosphere was extremely casual and relaxed. I especially appreciated the COVID precautions the staff took to ensure safety, wearing masks and utilizing dividers between tables to help with social distancing. All-around we all had a great experience. Will definitely be returning!
