Hunter's Bakery and Cafe

The food was average. Tomato basil soup was like a V8 drink warmed up. I couldn't be taste basil at all and it was too thick. The chicken salad was good but the advertised grapes were nowhere to be found. On the other hand, the bakery items were delicious and decently priced. Our server was very friendly as were the staff that waited on us. We would return to town just for the bakery.

Have been going to Hunters since they opened. The food has gone down hill badly. Thought we would give them another chance and still very disappointed. I had the grilled chicken and mushroom sandwich chicken was so tough could hardly chew it. My mother had the chicken salad on the croissant and the chicken in was was too tough to chew. Had whole grapes that wasn't even chopped up. Very bland compared to the normal chicken salad. Probably won't be returning.

Horrible experience .. my wife and I went for a late lunch this afternoon. We were traveling back home to Florida and decided to stop off at the Sweetwater exit. We decided to find a local restaurant downtown. I ordered the chicken salad on a croissant and my wife had a chicken sandwich with mushroom and cheese that was cooked. My wife’s chicken was tough to where she couldn’t even eat it . So we told the waitress about it and the waitress was accommodating so she ordered a club without bacon and ham. The club was not up to par either. My chicken salad sandwich tasted okay but soon after my stomach started feeling upset and gassy. I would highly recommend avoid eating at this place. The dessert case door was wide open as well allowing for any fly or bug to enter. Restaurant didn’t seem clean. Very seedy with a weird smell.

Nice atmosphere. Fantastically beautiful displays of homemade desserts along with clean crisp entrees. Yet, no one was working as hard as the owner or as pleasant.

Excellent food and service. My Chicken Portabello was cooked to perfection and everything else was put to the side exactly like I asked. My coffee cup never ran out of coffee either and my family sure enjoyed their meal which is very good and makes me know that we'll make this place our regular stop.

Our Red Hat group went on Tuesday, July 17th. There were over 20 of us and the service was very fast and very friendly. I had the chicken salad croissant and baked potato. A friend had a salad and she said it was great. I didn't hear any complaints! I plan to go back!

My sister and I ordered French onion soup. It was barely lukewarm when we got it. We asked if they could reheat it. Made us keep our soup spoons and and came back with a microwave zapped soup that was still barely warm. Sister had Patty melt and bun was not toasted. I had New York strip that was very tough and was never given a steak knife. A very disappointing experience. Last time I ate here was 8 years ago and was great. Either it has gone way down hill since then or had a bad night. Either way a terrible dinner this night and think of a dozen restaurants in Monroe County that would have presented a better meal. Get your act together. At one time I would have said you were very good. If you like French Onion soup don't bother. Broth with onions., lumpy piece of cold cheese and piece of soggy bread, all cold. I loved this restaurant at one time and was so embarrassed touting to my sister how good it was in the past. Hopefully it is a one time thing

Great feeling old time cafe. Cajun chicken filet was delicious. Burger was good, but the chicken took the cake.

Went there on Thursday, July 27, 2017 with a group of friends. Service was excellent, food was delicious, and the carrot cake was the best carrot cake I have ever eaten. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends and family. Great experience, all my friends commented how good the food was and the great service, which was prompt and efficient, waitress even took our picture.
