Grumpy's Cafe

Busy Sunday mid-morning, the place was hopping. There were probably six tables when we arrived and by the time we ordered, another four more tables were added. The waiter handled it well. He had help from a woman (busser/dishwasher?) but they were the only two, plus the cook. The cook was good and so was the atmosphere. Seemed like a long established diner with a good reputation.

No grumpiness experienced here. A very tall gentleman served us and he was really kind. Very reasonably priced local joint, would definitely return.

I can't tell you about the food, sadly. I went in 15 minutes prior to close today. I didn't know they were closing, it was just myself, and I was really hoping for a quick breakfast. When I walked in, a very grumpy lady said "can I help you?" I said, "table for 1?" She proceeded to scoff, shake her head and said "no, we close at 2". Then walked away from me looking disgusted that I had even attempted to be seated. She was rude and the attitude was uncalled for (not unlike the attitude I read from the owners here in other negative reviews). I'm somewhat saddened because I'm local and am always looking to support small businesses. Perhaps it was an off day but I sure left without a doubt as to how this place got its namesake. Not sure I'll try again.

Great food at a small local hole in the wall. This is no Denny's, it is very much a personal experience. Grumpy Dave and his wife Julie are providing an amazing service to the world with their food. The bacon was thick, tender, and bursting with flavor, and left nothing to be desired. Their homemade Hollandaise sauce was nothing short of divine. Perfectly creamy and flavorful. Would definitely come back again given the opportunity.

It started awkward it. We walked in and stopped to wait to be seated at the sign. A local said we could just grab a booth. We did and the server came over a short time asked if we were told to sit down. Grumpily. The same server brought menus without a word or smile and put them down. We felt bad for seating ourselves and for following the apparent bad advice. The strange thing is a few months bites later our server came back and was pleasant. I ordered the Benedict which was tasty but the egg whites were not really cooked well. That's why the 4. Otherwise it was great, the hash browns were yummy and it was a good experience. Worth the stop for sure.

My family and I decided to pop in for breakfast and were not disappointed! The staff was kind and the food delicious. We were treated with care and left full and happy.

When a group of unruly patrons came in causing a scene, the staff handled it calmly and politely.

Very friendly staff and a generous amount of food for the price you pay. We went around 8am on a Friday morning and it was not very busy. Food came out fast and warm. Pancakes are HUGE! Could feed a whole family with just two of them honestly.

After reading the negative reviews, was a bit disappointed when they gave such great service and food. The gentlemen welcomed us in and sat us down with our menus, within a minute another came over to get our drink orders, the first guy came back within another minute to get our drink orders not knowing the other guy already put it in. Food was pretty damn good. Their homemade gravy is especially flavorful and savory. Like alot of the other reviews mention, their bacon is T H I C C

Wonderful experience

I've been here twice now and never disappointed in the food or the service. I will say one of the waiters has a bit of an attitude...chewed out an employee for being late in front of everyone and the other time chewed my group out for not waiting to be seated but he really is a nice person underneath it all so don't let that discourage you from going.

We came in during breakfast hours and it was a busy day for the new employees who had only been there a week. I got the eggs benedict and my partner had the belgian waffle and both were amazing. The employees were very communicative and had great service even though they were slammed & stressed out. We were given a couple delicious root beer float cookies on the house for being patient with them. We would definitely have breakfast there again.
