This is a continuence of first review 4 years ago. That review was simply Great
Fish & Chips. So we were passing through Albany about a week ago and stopped by the Depot again. It really is a cool little place. The food is good. The service is good.
It is difficult to gauge expense right now because honestly, everything is expensive. We paid about 20 bucks each for two meals and 5 bucks for a craft beer. We both were happy. The fish is Cod. Cod is mild. More mild than many other white fish. She liked the fried Oysters. A lot. Personally I think they're disgusting but that's just me. Oh, and the prawns we're good too. We hit the place about an hour before dinner time and we're immediately seated. It was starting to fill up as we left. We left satisfied and happy.
Next time we're going through Albany we will stop again.

Had the combo. Best shrimp ever. Fish meat itself was great and well cooked, but the breading was a little dark and tasted a little overcooked. Old Bay seasoning can also make things taste that way. Not sure, but was a little bummed because I am alway looking for good fried fish. Again, meat inside awesome, batter not so much.
Wife had chowder, it was awesome!
Liked the shrimp salad with meal, but next time I may ask for the salad on the side. Hot and cold bothers me a little.
Altogether great food and very friendly service.
Will come again!

The Depot Restaurant is an excellent destination for delicious seafood for your repast or a welcoming vibe for a rendezvous with a friend or a quick business meeting. Friendly, welcoming staff, a simple menu of coastal comfort food, and decor that looks plucked right out of Depoe Bay makes the Depot Restaurant a wonderful stop for any seafood lovers or homesick seafarers trapped inland.
We had Bonnie's Shrimp Crunch Salad (with a bowl of clam chowder for me) and it hit the spot. Just a hint of sweet, with fresh tasting shrimp and the as-promised crunch... It disappeared too quickly to capture on camera.
Make a date to voyage towards downtown Albany for the delectable and delightful Depot Restaurant in Albany. The entry can be a bit weird, so scout ahead on Google Maps or be prepared to circle around once. You'll be glad you did!

Nice to be seated at the bar and ignored for 15 min. Granted it was a busy lunch time, but you could of fiven a water and menu instead of ignoring me.

We came in because we'd heard it was good. I had the oysters and chips. Oysters were overdone, and the breading was not very good. Fries were unsalted and didn't taste good even with salt. The shrimp salad in the middle of the plate was wonderful. I guess we're back to driving to the coast.
It wasn't great, but the owner got back to me, and I should have addressed my issues on the spot. Except the waitress didn't check on us. I probably won't be back, but others have been pleased. Just be sure to be vocal with any issues.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESTAURANT THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF. I ordered two halibut fish and chips baskets at 17.99 a piece and was apparently served cod the owner admits to ripping people off in their reply to my first review... and i posted a picture of them admitting to ripping people off
The halibut and chips was the blandest fish i ever eaten. The rating is based solely on the food. The service was pretty good

Best fish plates ever. Always tasty. Decor never changes-and that's good.
