During my holiday in Chapel Hill this was the best coffee place. The pecan pie was soo good (never tried that before, so for me it was the best pecan pie) and the service was great!

I really want to like this place. Every time I come in the atmosphere indicates that everyone is enjoying their food. It’s such a cute establishment. However, there is just not enough attention to detail when it comes to food orders. I ordered the eye-opener with a side of pub fries. When I got back to my office, I noticed that the grits were not in the bag. No big deal. I work nearby. Therefore, it was easy for me to just walk back to get them. Upon returning to my office to finally eat my food, I noticed that the egg was runny. I had asked for it to be fried hard. At this point, I don’t have time to walk back over there again. Just a bit frustrating.

Excellent service, great atmosphere, and good food. Plenty of options. They serve locally roasted coffee.

Bad service. Mediocre food. Not worth it, who cares about the history if it’s not good.

The brie and bacon omlet was delicious. Served with fruit, grits or homefries. Relaxing atmosphere however service is a little slow.

Great atmosphere and breakfasts! Ate quite a few meals there during my college days. If I remember correctly, they played Classical music during the late 60's and early 70's, whereas today they play modern pieces and classical rock.

Great that they keep the historical building. The food was average/below average. Service was good.

Positives: friendly host staff & server. Healthy options (egg whites, fruit etc. if requested)
Negatives (from our first time there):
- no AC which made for very uncomfortable experience in the summer heat
- My food came out all wrong (even though I know the server wrote it down correctly). They redid my order and put the hollandaise sauce on the side as requested, but the eggs were still under cooked
- I had a side of a fruit and the bananas were dry and unripe
- The silverware set ups that we had came with paper napkins that already had some coffee dripped on them
Overall, not a great experience, would not go back.

I thought the food and atmosphere was great-- good prices too, however, I I thought the service was OK, not stellar-- our waiter was not around a lot and had a pretty flat affect. Also there was flecks of mold in my water from the drink gun.... gross. I guess I was just expecting a little more in terms of the overall experience, but I will definitely return for the food!
