The Tomato Pie was excellent! Also the braised cabbage, Mac n Cheese, Cucumber and Onion Salad and Pickled Beets were simply scrumptious! We will definitely be back again. The service was outstanding as well!!!

I love Proper! Some of the best comfort food around by far. Great service with a friendly atmosphere. The wait staff makes you feel right at home! I love going in the afternoon for a slice of pie topped with that delicious house-made whipped cream and a cup of coffee!

Fantastic southern food. Got the pulled pork and it was 10/10. Mac and cheese, collard greens, fried tomatoes and desserts were all top notch. Service was extremely good and friendly. Highly recommended

Great southern food. Good service. We go Everytime we are in town. Highly recommend. Check out the menu in advance as there are daily entrees. They also have specials that are not on the menu. Selection of craft beer and wine.

Wasn't my favorite stop. Finding parking was incredibly difficult as the restaurant only seemed to have one or two spots reserved which were full.

Service was fast and the place seemed clean. However, the art was odd and the food could have been better. My chicken sandwich was average compared to other fried chicken sandwiches I've had in NC. My hushpuppies were overdone and had a weirdly oily flavor. The cornbread tasted like the outside of a corn Tomale (masa) and was very dry.

All in all, the place was alright but had a few oddities to it.

I've eaten here three times and each time the food is great! They have daily specials and all their food is locally sourced.

Loved this restaurant! Food was fantastic, service was great. It's so charming, best place we ate in Boone area hands down. The biscuits and cornbread were so good we had to get some to go! We enjoyed a brisket that was on special and my partner got the fish which he loved. No complaints at all.

Truly one of the best meals I've ever had. Servers was incredibly friendly, atmosphere was elegant, charming, very Southern, but casual enough that I didn't feel underdressed in jeans. And most importantly, everything we ordered was perfect and deliscious. This was the first time in a long time that Ive been impressed by a restaurant. Cannot wait to go back.

The food is southern comfort with a refreshing twist. The ingredients are sourced as local as possible. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is quaint. If you are a carnivore, a vegetarian, vegan or gluten free, you will find something wonderful on the menu here.

The food was amazing, between my wife and I we got the crab cakes, cornbread, Mac n cheese, pickled beets, pulled pork, hushpuppies, and glazed carrots. Plates appear small, but at $10/plate, you won't leave hungry...looks are deceiving, this southern gem's food will fill you up I'm no time. The staff was very polite and informative. Would recommend to any of my friends. The creme brulee was amazing.
