Honestly I'm a bit disappointed. After reading the reviews I was very excited to try this restaurant but i was less than impressed. Our waitress was wearing a crop top spaghetti strap tank top with no bra and ripped jeans (fine for a bar/tavern or going out with friends, very inappropriate for a fancy restaurant). Next: NO Clean cups!!! We never got water with our meal bc they had no available glasses. 3rd: our beer was not cold, and also had no mugs, beer was just in the cans....she told me they were using a bucket of ice to get some cold in the back....(that's fine for camping, but again paying 5-8$/beer i would expect it to be cold. This made our service slower as well; I asked for another beer when mine was almost empty and took almost the end of my meal to get my next one bc there were not any cold ones, she put it in the ice bucket to chill and was waiting for it to get cold enough...
Now the food....the food was phenomenal, the food is the only reason for the 3 stars. Fried green tomatoes for appetizers and was on point delicious. I had the pulled pork with salad and Mac and cheese. Again 100% delicious food. My date had the hot chicken with salad and Mac n cheese. He was equally happy with his dish.
The food was 100% the saving grace here. Delicious fresh food. I am out right appalled at the service and lack of dishes for a top-rated restaurant.
Quaint intimate venue with a rustic feel. Indoor and outdoor seating. Excellent food and service. Fresh produce and homemade ingredients. Desserts are out of this world! Drove an hour to check it out. Wasn't disappointed. Our waitress, Hazel was on point with food recommendations and fast friendly service. If you are ever in the area, we highly recommend it.
I give this place 5 stars. The food was amazing and the server was knowledgeable about the menu. The parking lot is small but there's parking across the street. We ordered the cheese plate for an appetizer. I had the bbq pork belly with collards and mac n cheese, and my wife had the fried chicken salad with potato cake.
Their homemade dressings are on point as well. We'll definitely go back again.
This place was okay. Definitely not worth the $$. I ordered the meatloaf ($16). You could tell it was homemade but incredibly bland. Tried to spice it up with their homemade ketchup which was served on the side. This “ketchup” tastes like simple marinara sauce. The Mac n Cheese was mediocre at best. Cornbread dry as can be. My advice is to just go to Mellow Mushroom right up the street. Service was decent.
OMG! Absolutely delicious food. We found this place after open house at App State. We had the fried chicken, fried catfish, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, coconut pie, and chocolate pie. The service was also amazing. Too bad we live so far away, can't wait to go back.
The food was amazing. The home fries, collard greens, and green beans are my favorite. The coleslaw was a little bland but they have too many great options to not give 5 stars.
We have been here three times in the past year and have enjoyed all of our meals. Service has always been prompt and friendly. The menu seems to always offer different and unique specials to try. The converted old home makes for a neat ambiance and their heated poarch dining is always great. I highly recommend trying this restaurant.
Not only is the food fantastic, all of the employees are nice, friendly and helpful. That mac and cheese though that'll just take your breath away. And don't even get me started on the collard greens. They are delicious! As well as everything else we ate but those two just really took over the whole plate and we gobbled them down!
My buddy and I are visiting from Maryland and a local recommended this spot to get dinner. The food was incredible. Just like a home cooked meal. Definitely recommend the fried chicken. Staff was very attentive. Cozy feel. Definitely will be stopping by again. Sarah was our waiter and she was great!
This place is fantastic! We ended up at Proper because our first choice had a long wait which worked out in our favor. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The Biscuit Baby w/ persimmon and salted beet caramel is definitely a must have!
