I made the drive from Wilkesboro after work on a Thursday to check this place out and it was totally worth the effort. It's cute and I was very comfortable eating by myself. The food was awesome (especially the hush puppies and chocolate pecan tart with whipped cream) and Christy was the sweetest waitress I've ever had. P.S. Park in the numbered parking spot lot across the street if their parking lot is full - $3.50 in the evenings but no towing worries.

Cute, cozy, local restaurant with delicious, fresh food. The tomato pie was awesome. Try the homemade salad dressings.

Proper offers delicious upscale southern food. Don’t miss the hot dipped chicken with all their classic sides. For something lighter, try the sides plate with a green salad and one of Proper’s house made dressings. This is one of the tastiest places we’ve found downtown Boone.

Got there early for our reservation, they accommodated our group of 6 right away with a smile. Staff was so kind and attentive, food was perfect, just a real nice place to eat REALLY great food. Thanks Proper!

Amazing food. Catfish was cooked, perfectly - not greasy at all. Collards were almost perfect. Fried chicken and potatoes were on point. Very cool building, small but cozy. Super friendly wait staff. A hidden gem and a must visit when you go to Boone. PS, this beer was awesome!

A wonderful little spot here in Boone. Food was delightful and service exemplary. We had the Chicken and dumplings, Tomato Pie, and some fried Green Tomatoes. We will be back.

SO good. the owner is an actual angel that fell from the sky. if youre looking for the BEST homefries in boone, this is the place to come. i think they may be the best homefries on the planet. you won't regret coming here. although the prices are high, the sides are very well prices and i will normally just order those! im a college student

We had the best meals here and friendly customer service. This was probably our favorite meal during our trip to Boone. We highly recommend trying this place! The ambience is perfect and I love the old feel of the restaurant.

We had an excellent dining experience! Our server was extremely attentive, the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. I’d definitely recommend going, and I’d definitely go back.
