Called 3 days early and booked room. We arrived only to be surprised with what happened. Our original room was given to another guest. We waited while they repeated this action until finally we were booked into a room fir the same price but not on main floor.
We were asked to pay for entire stay before being given key access. Parking was an additional price.
We were then told front entry doors were closed at 10 PM. We were told to KNOCK LOUDLY on the front door and to continue until someone came to the door.
There was no entrance from parking lot into the back of building as the access gate from inside slams shut. We had to walk around building.
Bottom line is while this hotel is historic, it is also expensive ($198,00 per night), inconvenient, no continental breakfast, no restaurant, no lounge and required guests to adhere to an unrelastic curfew. Ince in the building we felt captive.
Having been in Taos to visit family, it was impossible to relax and enjoy our limited time.
We will never again use this hotel.

Small boutique hotel with lots of history and ambience. It's right on the Plaza. There are two rooms with balconies. Plenty of places nearby for breakfast lunch and dinner. The staff is very friendly and accommodating we've made a couple of stops here and it's well worth the trip

Just got here. Room is 80 degrees and I can't close the window cause the front desk said it's the only way to keep the air conditioner on. Its only 73 outside. They need to warn guests before they stay here. Won't ever be back

Great location, friendly staff, walking distance to several excellent restaurants, shopping and galleries. A traditional New Mexico inn experience. Coffee shop off the lobby, handy and friendly. One caveat, if you're a light sleeper do not take a plaza view room - too many cars and people making noise after dark.

Our experience was terrible at best. Would never recommend this place. Felt like we were staying in a hostel instead of a $200.00 a night hotel.

This review is specifically about the coffee shop and not the hotel. I don't usually write reviews. Takes a lot for me to waste my time. I have never been treated so rudely as I was treated. I am not sure if my short hair that might point to my sexuality was behind her treatment but she all but told three of us to get out with a condescending smile. We did. I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Our stay at the la Fonda was exceptional! The front desk staff was very helpful, the hotel was beautiful, and the chocolates and robes in our room was a very nice touch

Historic hotel, on plaza. Close to main historic shopping and gallery district. Quaint rooms. Hotel Parking in back, $10 per night.

Positive: Best location. Friendly staff. Open areas inside to hang out and interesting stuff to look at.
