The hotel is historical and has beautiful architectural elements. There are so many little nuances that make it beautiful! We stayed in a single room with a king bed that overlooked the plaza out front. The room was a little small for two people but it felt cozy (not cramped) so we enjoyed it.
The location was great! Right on the edge of a little square with walking access to shops and restaurants. I would certainly stay here again and recommend it to anyone staying in Taos!

I have visited Taos several times and wanted to make this trip special by staying at this historic hotel. It was everything I hoped it would be, excellent service and a small but lovely room. The location is right in the middle of town so most things are close. The parking lot is easy and very convenient. I feel I got more of a true Taos experience staying here.

Beds are a tad firm for my liking, but clean, warm and well serviced makes up for personal preference. Food is great and though laid back, the service is attentive. To my mind that is the best, no pressure approach to hotel stays!

Very nice small hotel in the middle of the town. Sheldon was very helpful with accommodations and recommendations, and helped us store our ski gear overnight. Would stay again.

Got a hotel at the last minute here due to weather and it was perfect. Staff was super friendly and the room was clean & comfortable. Plenty of things near by and being in the plaza was cute

Rooms are dated, but very nicely upgraded.
Layouts of the rooms is really not done well in my opinion.
The ENTIRE staff was incredible in every way.
Location, location, location.
Would have been nice if the restaurant was open while we were there, but bang for the buck was well worth our stay.

tad spendy, but the atmosphere and ambience is great. can't beat staying right on the main Taos plaza. check out the art exhibit while you're there.

Clean rooms, comfortable beds. Staff was ok, I asked about the restaurant (there's a menu outside) and was told it wasn't open. Asked for recommendations and the response was, "i don't eat", I'm sure you know someone that does. Kinda condescending

Beautiful old hotel. Convenient area to shops and restaurants. Try gorge grill across parking lot.

I'm giving one star because even though I spoke to the front desk (in person) the evening before we checked out when I discovered there was a problem with a clogged sink in our bathroom (see the photo), nothing was done about it nor did we hear from management. Upon check out, the front desk acknowledged that she received the message and had already let maintenance know. However, we were already in order to check out so she called someone to help us with our luggage which was the only good thing that occurred during our stay here and we tipped the young man (Jorge?) very well for helping us with our bags as my BF fell ill and was very weak. We stayed here three nights and it was OK other than this incident of the disgusting clogged sink because of a huge hairball that had what looked like bile in it plus there was a dental floss pick on the floor indicating no one vacuumed before we checked in AND there was a dead fly squashed in the bathroom door jam. I mentioned all these things to the front desk who said he would pass it along and I truly believe he did. I told him I would rather rectify the situation before I posted a negative review on social media but that was almost two months ago and we have heard nothing from management and were charged full price for the room. I understand this is a 220 year old hotel (it is NOT affiliated with LaFonda of Santa Fe) and sometimes check systems fail but unfortunately, the sheer disregard by management has soured us and we will never stay here again. Finally, the location is not all its cracked up to be. All the businesses in the square close super early (by 8pm) and even finding a restaurant open for dinner at 7:30pm is a challenge. The sidewalks are crumbling in Taos and it is not well lit at all. The backside of the hotel is eerie so we had a rough night walking to a nearby restaurant and back. Also there was a lot of road construction near the hotel and traffic was a nightmare.
