Review of Sump Coffee
Sump Coffee is a popular coffee shop located at 3700 S Jefferson Ave, St. Louis, Missouri. This coffeehouse offers a unique and alternative vibe, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The interior is adorned with lots of reclaimed-wood accents, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
One of the standout features of Sump Coffee is their commitment to quality. They are known for being one of the best roasters in the Midwest, if not the entire country. Their house espresso blend is highly praised for its perfect balance of acidity, fruitiness, and floral notes. Whether you prefer to enjoy it on its own or with steamed milk, you won't be disappointed.
The skilled baristas at Sump Coffee craft incredible drinks. Every shot pulled here is perfection, and the milk is always impeccably textured. Many customers claim that Sump Coffee serves the best cortado they've ever had. If you're feeling adventurous, their specialty beverages are always interesting and worth a try.
Sump Coffee is not just a place to grab a great cup of coffee, but also a place to relax and enjoy the ambiance. The interior is hip and stylish, with a unique decor that incorporates wood elements. There is plenty of seating available both inside and outside at tables.
One thing to note is that Sump Coffee has limited operating hours. They are open from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday to Sunday. Some customers have mentioned that they wish the shop stayed open later, but the quality of the coffee and the friendly service more than make up for it.
If you're a coffee lover in St. Louis, Sump Coffee is a must-visit. Whether you're looking for a delicious espresso, a perfectly crafted pour-over, or a specialty beverage, you'll find it here. The combination of their alternative vibe, reclaimed-wood accents, and exceptional coffee make Sump Coffee a standout in the local coffee scene.

One of the best cups of coffee I’ve ever had. Each time I go there, I’m surprised by the originality of specialty drinks they have. They introduced me to an espresso tonic, and my coffee journey hasn’t been the same. Even if it’s out of the way, this place is worth coming to!

Favorite coffee spot in STL; amazing brew and I always take beans home to make my own pourover. I've been coming here since it opened and never not tried to stop when I'm back in town. Great place!

absolutely amazing espresso and some of the better pour overs you'll find in the STL area

Great Coffee, Great Service, Great Owners!
Recently went to this awesome coffee bar just off Cherokee Street. It's well maintained, stylish, and a perfect place for catching up with a friend, studying, or doing work. Plenty of space, individual and group tables, free/ample parking, free wifi and it's in a safe location.
The Coffee is amazing, might be the most unique/best in St. Louis (which is a pretty damn good reason to go). The range of coffee drinks and bean types is impressive.
The staff is incredibly sharp, well informed, and friendly. I'm just getting into the "bigger coffee" world so my knowledge is limited at best. The owners/employees took a ton of time explaining things and giving recommendations (even hooked me up with a free cup). I never felt like I was being talked-down-to or belittled. (It's always nice when people don't make you feel dumb...especially when you are)
The owners are incredible friendly and showed me around the shop. Far from just being friendly they are seriously dedicated to their business and bringing St. Louis better coffee.
I'll definitely be heading back.

This is probably the best coffee house in St. Louis. Coffee connoisseurs from all over town drink their black coffee here like wine connoisseurs.

Excellent coffee one of the best in Saint Louis I would say. Every time I go there coffee is always on point. Plenty of limited time specials there and they are always phenomenal as well. I live in Ballwin and I drive 40min just to go there many time. I’d recommend to anyone who loves coffee.

Limited menu. The owners are rightly proud about their products. What you get through is very excellent coffee. They fix it by the order taken. No fru-fru stuff! It's real and seems to lean towards expresso and other strong coffee (but it's not bitter). There's very limited seating inside and out. Plan on not hanging around. A lot of foot traffic that grabs an order and go. Worthwhile place.

I wondered why they chose the name SUMP for this establishment. Then I looked up the definition of the word:
- a pit or reservoir serving as a drain or receptacle for liquids: such as
a CESSPOOL
Sour coffee and sour barista.
Get over yourself, sir. You’re a servant who makes disgusting coffee.

Today was my first experience post Covid and as expected, some definitely has their routine perfected! I placed my order before I left from home it takes me about 15 minutes to get there. You actually text them when you arrive and they make your drink then so it is piping hot when it comes out! Only took about five minutes from the time I texted, just like I had walked up to the counter if not faster! By the time I got the drinks home they were perfect drinking temperature and I was able to appreciate all of the subtle tasting notes which were dead on as usual! It seemed like there were a fair amount of people picking up coffee so I do not worry for them from a business standpoint but support them anyway!

I'm not knowledgeable about coffee, so going to a shop that isn't Starbucks (don't judge) can be daunting, because let's be honest: there are coffee snobs out there. That said, my experience, albeit brief, was great. I was able to try the cold brew before ordering (a first for me; you'd think this would be more commonplace), and overall, the wife and I are happy with what we got. Would have enjoyed the location more if it wasn't raining, but that's no fault of the shop. Thanks!
