Java Joe's Cafe

Went to this place as kid and had to stop in more than ten years later. I loved it back then and love it just as much today! I remembered the crepes and giant icecream sundays from when I was a kid but had a fabulous breakfast of smoked white fish eggs benedict this last time.

I have never felt more unwelcome and treated so poorly than here! We were trying to eat breakfast with two families, we had 7 people total. I was met with rude comments and very rude nonverbals from employees. We decided it would be best to find somewhere else. I will not be returning. I cannot believe how we were treated. Very disappointed. I do not recommend!

Wow! This place is terrible. Good reviews so I thought it would be good. Food was not bad but overpriced & nothing too good. Anyway, the whole experience was not bad until we met the owners, a Husband & wife couple. The wife yelled at our server & when we checked out we got yelled at too. Why you ask? Because we split the bill as we had multiple couples in our party. She slammed the register & made derogatory remarks to my entire party. I have never been spoken to this way at a food/hospitality establishment. She further scolded us for tipping our waitress despite great service from her as an individual. If I could have paid our waitress & skipped out on our bill, I would have. Do yourself a favor & skip this place.

What a fun and friendly place to eat a very tasty, all fresh breakfast. Small fruit bowl was enough for two! Everything we had was good, and everything we saw at other tables looked good too! It’s a quirky, quaint place with VERY friendly staff. Constant folks in/out. Try it!

Excellent breakfast! Went there two days in a row! Very friendly staff and owners! A must stop if your in St. Ignace.

Breakfast was good. French toast stuffed with a sweet creamcheese spread. Along with Raspberry spread on it. Yummmmm. But you pay 2.39 for a coffee. Was only filled twice. . Then it took my Friend to go and tell them we NEEDED stuff at our table,the one by the BIG yellow and blue meatal fish.Bought a hoodie and a coffee mug. Blue of course.

Heard great things about this place, but was fairly disappointed. Had a 25 minute wait when we arrived at 12, but that was to be expected. However we waited about half an hour from placing our order to receiving it, at a time where the cafe was starting to empty out a bit. The hazelnut latte was great, but the Reuben was bland and completely soggy, with the meat looking grey instead of red. Joe came around and was very personable. Perhaps we will give it another try if we're up this way again, maybe for breakfast food which looks like their bread and butter.

Funky place but not as friendly if you don’t say you love everything. I love eggs Benedict when the hollandaise is made from scratch in house. So I always ask. The waitress assured me it was from scratch and included only egg yolks butter and lemon. When I got my order it was very bland and tasteless. I asked for extra lemon but they brought me a brown and rotten slice. I couldn’t even eat it. Never was offered a replacement meal. Just treated me like I was a complainer. When the owner asked me if I enjoyed my meal and I told her I didn’t, she went on about how everyone else loved their hollandaise When I asked if they added milk I found out the waitress had lied and it was from a mix. She had also overcharged me for my meal but insisted that was the right price. When I looked at the menu later she had lied again. Owner never apologized or offered to take the meal off my bill. Low class!! My wife did enjoy her French toast. Wouldn’t recommend because of the attitude and dishonesty.

Quick service, friendly, and funny staff. Listening to their interactions while eating great food made our first time fun.
