Looks tiny as you drive by but don't fret, it's bigger inside than it looks. You can park next door because there seems to only be a couple spots out front.
My Italian mint latte came barely warm and our order took quite awhile to come to the table and it came out meal by meal (our party ate in shifts 😏)
Most of the meals were room temperature at best. The bacon was actually cold. Nutella crepes were tasty as was the lobster omelette and Benedict. The chocolate chip pancakes tasted like burnt chocolate so that was disappointing.
Once we got our food our server didn't stop by as often but we were pretty much set for drinks.
We did like sitting out back in the covered patio though.
So I can't really recommend coming here for the food, which is why I guess you come to a restaurant 😉. Maybe coffee but be sure to have them bring it out hot!
Plus I'm not sure I believe the legend of Java Joe!

Beautiful cafe! Very cool decorations and sweet customer service! They put a smiley face on the coffee lid. My partners cup leaked and they remade the drink! I would totally recommend this place! It's a small place. They do have outdoor seating though!

Really good food! My friend's and originally stopped to get some coffee while planning to eat somewhere else later and decided to just stay here. The staff was awesome and Joe was very friendly! The whitefish omelet and granola pancakes were my favorite of the dishes we tried. Would highly recommend it and I will be coming back again.

We have eaten here a couple of times during visits to the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan. You have to go there to experience the great service, huge menu, yummy food, and eclectic atmosphere of this cozy place. Don't let the line out the door scare you away. They are super quick and the tables turn over fast so we all can enjoy this little gem in St. Ignace!

It's been a year since we last visited and we still talk about the pancakes and the people. We stayed in the area for a week and ate at Java Joe's nearly every day. It is a small place and extremely popular, so get there early or be prepared to wait. It's first come, first served, so we got up early just to be among the first in line. The staff is friendly and good-natured joking and chats are part of what make the place such an inviting stop. The menu has something for everyone, but the atmosphere and nice folks are what will keep you coming back.

Great place. Joe comes around with the coffee and chats up customers. Food is good, decor psychedelic kitsch. Even the bathroom.

Great server. Very good food. Absolutely WORSE, NASTY hostess have ever encountered. Believe her name was Sandy. Started to clear our table before we had even finished. When came around with coffee refill was upset that I said I had decaffeinated. Made a very snide remark. I will NEVER give this place another pen y of my income. I have friends on the island, Mackinaw City and will be SURE to inform them of our experience with this TERRIBLE hostess. HIGHLY offended by her treatment of us.

First visit! Loved the uniqueness of the place. Very eclectic!! Food was average (only got 1 slice of toast with breakfast. ??). Had to go get our own coffee refill and we were the only customers. The menu is huge and lots of unique breakfast items.
Owner was super friendly and talkative! Maybe a little to much talk! Our group basically listened and answered his questions thru our entire meal.
But if you like different and unique places, be sure to visit them!

Seriously the best place to get breakfast in the area! The staff are the nicest and most helpful people, the menu offers anything you could possible want, and the prices are reasonable!
I come here every time I'm in the area!
