Lantern Coffee Bar and Lounge

Just popped in after Monster Jam Truck for some Hot Cocoa and coffee. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff!! Cocoa was great. My Mocha I was expecting to be a little sweet with chocolate syrup, but it was quite the opposite. Coffee was not fresh and disappointing.

When I say this place got me through so many years of being a freelancer in Grand Rapids, I’m not even exaggerating. There was a clear reason why I always chose Lantern as my go-to “have 3 lattes, sit for 5 hours and work on my computer getting shi*t done“ spot. Not only are the drinks superb, the staff is nothing short of amazing. They’re attentive and friendly, and their mission to keep the community safe through this tough time is appreciated. I absolutely love that they feature products and art from local artists and businesses as well!

Delicious coffee with plenty of comfortable seating to hang out or get some work done!

I am not a coffee drinker, nor do I frequent coffee shops, but I stopped in here one day and the lady who was running the place was so welcoming and kind. I ordered a cup of latte anyway and it was delicious. All of their ingredients are local and top-notch. This place is also just stunning. There's a hidden lounge in the back, and it's spacious. I had an amazing experience here and I plan to come back hopefully soon. Thank you.

One of the coziest coffee shops in Grand Rapids. I love Lantern for so many reasons. Of course, the coffee is phenomenal, but so is the atmosphere and the staff! Even though it's a small space, there are great places to sit and chat with a friend or two or get some work done. Highly recommend stopping at Lantern for any of your caffeine needs.

Lantern is one of my favorite coffee shops. Every time I go there, the baristas greet me with kindness and prepare my favorite drink without asking any questions. Their drinks are delicious and their customer service is thoughtful.

Lantern’s quality is top notch. Syrups are made in house with locally sourced ingredients. Seasonal menu is always creative, and coffees are expertly sourced from the best roasters.

Jon is not only in touch with the specialty coffee industry at large, he’s also passionate about people. If you’ve been in more than one time, he likely knows your name.
Lantern has always been about balancing quality with accessibility and inclusion. Jon embodies this, and has cultivated a community in Grand Rapids that is unique and rare.
Negative reviews here usually come from people who have taken issue with mask mandates. Whether you agree or not, leave the small businesses out of it. They’re exhausted. I promise you they’ve already weighed every alternative.

Atmosphere was great, service was great, coffee was the worst thing i have ever put in my face.

The staff is always friendly, they care about their customers health and safety. They serve delicious coffee too! I've noticed that they really get to know their regulars, love seeing when small businesses build those relationships with the community!

Had a delicious latte with vanilla they made in-house. The barista was super friendly and taught me a new method for brewing tea. Highly recommend!
