Lantern Coffee Bar and Lounge

After passing this place many time, I finally had some time to stop in! It is a beautiful and relaxing shop with equally good coffee. Pour over coffee, lattes...whatever you are into. I met the owner Steve who seems like a genuine guy and founded the shop around seven years ago. I dont live downtown so I dont know how often I visit...but I will NOT hesitate to stop in again given the chance.

Absolutely LOVE Lantern it is by far the absolute best coffee shop in that West MI has to offer. I won’t go anywhere else and always recommend Lantern to everyone I come into contact with. Hands down the BEST iced vanilla latte. Also love that they support other local small business’s with baked goods that they bring in. The staff has always been so incredible to me and the owner is just absolutely awesome. If you want the best coffee come here. The atmosphere and the positive welcoming energy is just incredible. Everyday becomes a great day when you go to Lantern. Run don’t walk!!!!

I’ve been here multiple times and each I’ve been friendly and ordered a single and simple drink, the coffee is always nice which almost made me a regular and I enjoy the layout but the employees don’t seem that friendly to me, some seemed like it was a bother to answer my questions otherwise just seemed very bland in the little bit of conversation that was had, whereas the last coffee shop I went to everyday made it a priority to focus on the customer in front of them and would genuinely put that little bit of effort in that it takes to be nice. each time coming in it’s made me not want to return because of this. Still, because of the coffee I kept giving it a try as I’ve tried most of the spots in Grand Rapids but for me it comes down to the energy in the environment and I unfortunately won’t be returning again.

I stopped by here with a friend of mine and we loved this place. It has a great atmosphere, the coffee is good, and the associates were very friendly. If you want a good place for an informal business meeting, or just to catch up with a friend, stop by Lantern Coffee Bar and Lounge.

Light food options but fanatic coffee selection and amazing atmosphere. Spending hours working away or reading in their coffee shop is a favorite hidden spot of mine downtown. They are a local favorite for sure.

The good - very clean and inviting! The barista wore a mask to prepare my drinks which I really appreciated. I got a chocolate croissant and a ham and cheese croissant for lunch which were delicious.

The top half of our mochas were very good, but at the bottom they got... Gritty? I'm not sure if this was an intentional thing like cacao nibs or just a fluke of some coffee grounds getting in but it wasn't my thing and made the bottom quarter of the coffee undrinkable.
