delicious coffee, however the lower section to relax and sit is very dusty with cobwebs in corners and around lights. dead flies where we sat. i hope more attention is placed on cleanliness as that’s just as important as taste, if not more.

The overwhelming feeling I have always had when walking through Lantern's door is a feeling of home. The atmosphere, friendly staff, and exceptional coffee always provide the comfort one didn't know they needed. I have spent entire days there when I unknowingly stayed until just before they closed, and was always greeted with a genuine smile by the barista behind the counter on my way out. Their dedication to keeping their customers and staff safe does not go unnoticed, and is much appreciated. I highly recommend grabbing a cup of coffee, and staying a while if you're able!

Absolutely the best Grand Rapids coffee shop. They are locally sourced and make every decision with intention. The employees are always so so kind. The beverages are the BEST. Whenever I get a latte here I regret not getting them more often. Seriously you will NOT regret stopping here for a beverage!

I can't recommend this place enough! The drinks, atmosphere and staff are incredible. If you want great coffee made by staff who genuinely care and know what they're doing and are passionate about it- go here! Forever thankful for this gem here in Grand Rapids.

Not only were their drinks amazing (I got both the iced chai and, later on, an iced vanilla latte), but the atmosphere makes this coffee bar and lounge an absolute MUST for anyone who happens to be in the area. You can easily spend the afternoon here doing some studying, getting some work done, or just meeting up with friends and catching up. I sincerely can’t recommend this place enough

Always cozy and the baristas are so friendly! I love coming here during the cooler months to hunker down and study. One of the few late night coffee options in town!

Lantern will always be my absolute favorite coffee shop in the US. Not only do they have the best tasting coffee, they provide a cozy atmosphere that feels like home while being a conducive spot to work, read a book, or catch up with friends. The staff knows me by name, and has my regular drink made sometimes before I even get up to the counter. They care about the state of the world and the people they serve. Do yourself a favor and go to Lantern. Quality people. Quality environment. Quality coffee.

Plan to pay for downtown street parking. $1-4 for 1-4 hours limit. Cool little place with a basement with 8 stuffed arm chairs with non moveable coffee table in floor. (not really laptop friendly). 4 small tables, 4 desk tables for 1 with lamps perfect for laptops.(absolutely awesome!) 3 high top tables with bar stool seating and 1 large table for groups. A few outdoor chairs, no tables outside though. (Basement is not wheel chair friendly due to stair access). A few bar window seat upstairs too. Matcha was delicious. Ranged $5-$7, ( not including tip). Chocolate muffin was amazing! However they were basically sold out of pastries or anything other than refrigerator cookies by 11am which is why I give it 4 stars. If you plan on a few drinks and staying for a bit, plan on at least $20-$30 due to parking, tip, and drinks. Staff was very friendly. Bring headphones as music is too loud. Otherwise nice cozy experience. Recommendations. Would like to see a few laptop mobile tables for stuffed armed chairs, more food or baked goods, quieter music, maybe less rap, or more elevator music type so you can talk easier or work easier? Otherwise great experience.

I wanted to done inside but it was pickup only. Ended up drinking outside. I ordered the Cortado which came with sparkling water. Came with a fancy bronze spoon. Pic included (customer service was great)

A great space for a quick meeting, some solo work time, or just a pick me up. I love their emphasis on inclusion, community, and safety. Throw in a friendly staff who always helps me find something new, or the perfect roast to take home, and you've got the perfect coffee shop. They’ve also got the best hot cocoa in town according to my daughter! ☕️
