Lantern Coffee Bar and Lounge

Wonderful staff and a charming, cozy location. Coffee has a strong, rich flavor that tasted well brewed and the espresso had a nice pull. Maybe avoid the mocha though, just get the coffee.

Great place and atmosphere. Perfect to study, read or catch up with a friend. The staff is always friendly and gives good drink recommendations too.

I regularly try and stop here when I'm downtown GR. This place is so chill, and has a great sitting area downstairs to relax. I got a black coffee last time and enjoyed just messing around on my phone for 2 hours while hanging out in the "dungeon." Absolutely great meet up spot, and the coffee is affordable and tastes great.

I'm not an espresso expert at all, but I've bought vanilla lattes at many different places from McDonalds to Starbucks to independent coffee shops like this. I've made my own at home. I know what goes into a vanilla latte and it's not complicated.

And I have no idea how a vanilla latte from Lantern tastes so good. No clue. But every time I get one I feel like I am not touching the ground, but ascending toward heaven.

AMAZING latte here, one of the best in Grand Rapids! Nice lower level for connecting to wifi and getting some work done.

The best in GR for latte craftsmanship. They won't scorch it and its always smooth. They have some pastries too, and those are decent.
Seating is trickier in covid times - they have a limited capacity, so make sure to ask before you order. There is a decent sized seating area - not sure if it's accessible, but there is some seating at the ground level too.

Such a cute and unique coffee shop tucked away downtown GR. The coffee quality, staff & ambiance from the lamps and lanterns on the lower level makes its vibe unmatched!!!!!

The Lantern is one of my favorite places to go for coffee with friends, or to get some work done :) the coffee is amazing, and the staff are great! Plus, the decor and space is overall very warm and inviting.
Just be aware - the only parking available is parking on the street. :)

I love this place.

The coffee is great. Rich but smooth. Their milk and half-and-half get shipped to them in glass bottles.

The upstairs is nice and bright with good views of the area. A nice place to people watch.

Downstairs is cozy. With wall sconce lights, and lamps on the tables. Comfy chairs and a couple sofas. (And I cool chandelier)

It's the kind of place I'd like to own if I owned a coffee shop.

Kinda bummed being called Lantern I was hoping for different kinds of lanterns to be hanging everywhere.
