Black Lion Coffee & Café

So excited that there is a good coffee shop near me. Single origin drip coffee is always available. No fancy preparation methods (pour overs), but solid conventional drip and espresso. And vegan cookies!! There is a lot of indoor and some outdoor seating.

Absolutely incredible! The people were friendly and the atmosphere is lovely, I can tell this would be a great place to go and do work because it's got a quiet warmth about it. And not to mention, that was the best mocha latte and my friend's best chai that we've had in a very long time. You can truly tell that they take pride in their products.

We loved this cafe! We were visiting DC and needed good coffee. Loved the Ethiopian brews and croissants! Lovely servers too.

Saw on their website that they close at 5, which contradicted what Google said. So I tried calling, 4 times throughout the day. No answer. So I went to check it out and it turns out Google has their updated closing time, but not their website to actually order food. Wish I could have had this clarification over the phone before I drove over.

Coffee was very good. The croissant wasn't. Did I mention that the coffee was excellent?

Wonderful! Best coffee in rockville so far in my opinion. Coffee has many layers of flavor, strong, and leaves a nice aftertaste. The pastries are limited, but very delicious!

My family stopped in later in the day, but the owners were kind, courteous, and pleasant. The interior is beautifully decorated, very welcoming, and the 'village' was a nice walk including the shaded paths and sitting around the nearby fountain.

Our daughter loved her iced tea - they use tea spot tea which we love and happen to know is gluten free (we have celiac disease so this is important). I enjoyed their drip coffee which was strong, but perfect with a bit of milk. My husband loved the espresso, also with a splash of milk.

Pretty consistent coffee offering, nice space, good ambience.

First and foremost the coffee is very good as I had the single origin Harrar. Smooth, smooth, smooth.

Atmosphere is relaxed with light jazz playing. Couple people in conversation others studying, and one guy mixing music on his sound box and headphones.

The service is good, but not great.

They do not know how to make a cappuccino!!! Also, the person at the cashier was texting while I was waiting to order.
