Primo is hands down one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at. Service is exceptional, and the food is creative and inspired. Atmosphere is cozy and warm

Fabulous Food! Most all of it grown on site. Spectacularly beautiful and interesting dishes. Top Notch.

Superb, fresh, and vibrant dishes created by a legendary chef. Unfortunately, the atmosphere leaves much to be desired. The food is still amazing, locally sourced if not grown on site, and full of perfectly balanced flavor combinations and unique twists, the house retains its quirky and charming vibe, with comfortable nooks and fun seating possibilities, but oh how the atmosphere has changed. Perhaps its the cost, maybe it's the reality of summertime on the coast of Maine, but no one can claim the crowd at Primo to be nearly as hip or vibrant as the food. And that drags down the experience in a way that is at odds with the sparkle of the cuisine. The clientele has become the older, country club set talking about their trips to Europe, name dropping their golf club reservations, bragging about their boats. Sadly, that's not the fault of the restaurant, however it is likely enough to prevent a return trip anytime soon.

Best is the ambiance. The building and grounds are fantastic. We arived a bit early of our res time, but they were able to seat us at the Counter Bar, not the same as their drinking bar. The service was OK. A bit indifferent. Might have been better at a real table.
The food was very good, but not excellent. . I had the bronzini special, really nice. She had the halibut. Again very good.
Nothing about the meal was exceptional. So kinda pricey for the level of food and service.
The desserts, which we saw but didnt order, actually looked fantastic

Great atmosphere, great food, and lovely land to walk around. The drinks were well balanced - some of the best my partner has had in their life! They helped us celebrate a big night in a beautiful way.

Service was bad and very slow. Our reservations were for 8:30, and we were seated a little late which is entirely understandable on a busy Saturday night. Almost two hours later, we left with our meals packed to-go. Our server struggled to handle our section and parties that sat much later than us ate well before us (and had the same order). It took 30 minutes for them to take our order for drinks. We ordered the bread service, and then almost 10 minutes later we were told they ran out of bread. They brought the scraps of bread which were better off being left as scraps and not served. The special seafood trio included caviar that was flavorless, and the panzanella finally arrived after we’d be there well over an hour. As we neared the two hour mark we made the call to have our food packed and to leave.

Wonderful place. Great food. The service and ambience are terrific. Highly recommended. Be sure to be on time for your reservation. They do not hold them for long.

Exceptional food in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Desserts were delicious! Great way to spend a mother, daughter birthday.

Great food, great service, definitely a top tier experience.

Eaten here four time since they opened. First time was very good but only just as good as the other five or so top quality restaurants in the area at the time. The next three experiences were a major disappointment, and very, very costly. The last time we went my wife ordered duck. It came well done and the skin fat had not been rendered. Skin was inedible. My wife whispered to me that I cook a duck 10x better, even from a flavor standpoint. Duck is really not hard to cook right, especially in a professional kitchen. Skin should be crispy.
The place is pretentious and no longer deserves the accolades it earned when it first opened. The wait staff doesn't have the sophistication to pull off a five-star dining experience, and the prices are a rip off. I have no doubt the Primo owners went out of their way to impress Gordon Ramsey, and succeeded in doing so. It's unfortunate they didn't think it necessary to maintain that same high standard for the rest of us.
