Side Street Cafe

Despite being busy, we were able to be seated promptly. I think the lobster was a little chewy but they had the biggest portion of lobster on their rolls compared to other places we’ve been to. The chowder is a little watered down on my opinion.

You NEED to stop into this restaurant! If you are in Bar Harbor I highly recommend making Side Street a stop. The food was absolutely delicious, our server was quick and friendly and the atmosphere was wonderful. They have a large assortment of drinks to choose from as-well along with some beautiful artwork in the back which is available to buy!

This was a very cute restaurant in Bar Harbor. The wait staff was super friendly and nice! The drinks were good, asked for the special of the day which was a blueberry Prosecco, so refreshing. Got the haddock Reuben which was surprisingly delicious and loved the crab dip. Lobster was fresh and yummy

First time back in Bar Harbor in 3 years. It was another great experience at the Cafe. Service was great 5 stars from the time we walked in until we left. There were 9 of us everyone said their food was top notch. My clam chowder one. Of the best ever. Great place if you’re in Bar Harbor give it a try.

This is my second time at Side Street Cafe, and it continues to impress! The Lobster Mac 'n' Cheese was so good with lots of tasty lobster claw meat. I really appreciate that they offer half portions because it is very rich and a lot of food! The nachos were super good and so was their local cosmo cocktail. Our waitress was fabulous--the right balance of friendly and attentive but also giving us space and time to decide our food and drink. They had some great seating outside on the porch and inside the restaurant and going early on a Saturday evening, we had no wait for a table. I will eat here every time we are in Bar Harbor!

The staff are so friendly and welcoming! The strawberry watermelon margarita is a great choice on a hot day. The half order of lobster mac and cheese was a great portion to share with my husband, and the meatball sub was great. I was so happy to see the roasted vegetable salad after eating cruise ship food all week, it’s a great mix of flavors. Definitely recommend dining here!

Food was great! A very cute spot to enjoy food and beer. Try lobster mac n cheese! Make sure to have their blueberry pie as well.

Reviews on here rate Side Street as 4.5 and for us it was a solid 3 = average. Was rather disappointed given the expectation based on the ratings. We ordered Jena’s Jam which is described as a hearty bowl with seasoned black beans, rice, mixed cheeses, roasted vegetables, chipotle ranch dressing. And I added Grilled Chicken. The food was wasn’t even warm and the vegetables were overcooked and lacked flavor. The price is $20. We also ordered the Grilled Halibut which was $29.95 and above average. Was expecting a better culinary experience. We added a blond draft beer for $7 and a $10 margarita which was okay but not great. The plus is that the restaurant has outside seating.

A great burger place when you're looking for something other than seafood. Although I am sure their seafood would be good, we wanted land meat and really enjoyed the burgers. The mac and cheese was interesting, thought there was a flavour in it that I found .... Um.... Interesting. Not bad, just different.

Plentiful portion sizes, such that it was a challenge to eat it all, and the wife had to tap out. Would have loved to try the variety of beers on their menu too, but time was limited. Service was good and prompt.

Yes the lobster roll and clam chowder are good BUT the crab dip is a MUST! It was AMAZING! Lol and we always try margaritas and they were great. Give them a try!
