If spending the night stroll through the gardens at dusk.

Great example of a typical American plantation house. Sheryl is full of information on Louisiana, New Orleans, and plantations. The history of all of these are intertwined into compelling stories of the house, land and sugar barons.

Beautiful gardens and lots of birds! Lunch was delicious but a little pricey. Would definitely go back.

This is the first plantation tour we've ever been on, and we were definitely not disappointed. This place is so full of rich history, and is passionately maintained by the staff here. There are alot of very unique and original pieces you will see, that have been saved.
The walking tour of the mansion was excellent, and the mansion itself is gorgeous and contains so much to look at. It will definitely transport you back in time. Our guide was funny, extremely knowledgeable of the property and the history, which certainly added to the overall experience.
Overall, Houmas House is a must-see experience if you love history, or if you are an aspiring photographer.

Rich history. Amazing gardens and trees. You will need 3-4 hours here to do the tour and walk the grounds. The tour is focused on living as a plantation owner and the glitz that goes with it.
There is fine dining in the evening. They have a cafe that serves lunch in the gardens. The turtle bar serves alcohol and a fantastic mint julep.

A great experience learning about Louisiana's history through the artifacts and other items in the house. The gardens are beautiful and immaculately kept. If you visit here, try to get a guided tour with Ruby. Ruby was very knowledgeable and had a very engaging way of telling the stories associated with the house and the people who owned the house over the years. It is right across the Mississippi River, so you can actually sit along the river if the weather is nice. Highly recommend.

This was a good experience. We walked the grounds and took the tour of the main house. Patrick was our tour guide and he was amazing! What an insightful piece of history. Patrick was very knowledgeable and knew many facts about the house. The wax museum was okay but we ran out of time to really enjoy it.

A lovely place to stay and visit. The cottages where you sleep are extremely nice. It is beautifully decorated for Christmas.

This place is amazing!!! The house, the gardens, museum, the gift shop!! Amazing!!! I am so happy to have been able to experience this place. I was skeptical but found it is worth the cost of admission. It is evident that the property owner puts the minutes to use here. Love it!
