A beautiful plantation with some of the most incredible live oaks. The gardens surrounding the home are absolutely stunning and worth spending time exploring. The interior of the house feels a bit crowded and not all is authentic in the way that some of the other plantations are (and this would apply to the grounds as well). We also felt the tour was more about the items in the house, rather than the history of the plantation itself. Overall, quite interesting and neat to visit.

Thank you and Fantastic!! My best friend and our husband's had a beautiful and wonderful afternoon strolling through the Houmas House and Gardens (and gift shop). We had lunch after the awesome tour by August in the Carriage House Restaurant; it was absolutely perfect and very tasty!!

This review is for the house and plantation tour only (not for the hotel).
The gardens are beautifully landscaped, with numerous statues and fountains scattered throughout, as well as amazing centuries old oak trees. But the real treat in inside. Our tour guide Stephanie was fantastic. The house not only has an interesting history, it is also filled with fascinating antiques, art and collectibles.
This is worth a detour.

The 3 stars is not bec the house and grounds are not amazing and I feel they are worth the money. I debated a 1 star only bec of the rudeness of our house tour guide Darren. I had traveled from KY to see Houmas House in March this year with my bf and loved it so much I brought back my aunt and dtr this past Sunday from KY. I wish we had gotten anyone but Darren. He was shockingly rude to me. If the owner would like to kno what happened I will be glad to speak aBout it more. We traveled a long way and truly believe the Houmas owner would not want customers treated this way.

Beautiful home and & gardens. Well maintained landscaping and the home has been kept in great shape to keep the original integrity and vibe. Our tour guide “Billy Joe(?)” was informative yet gave the tour some humor and intriguing facts to keep it fun and interesting. There is a pub on the property also. Highly recommend visiting Houmas House!

We were amazed by the uniqueness and history of the the mansion and the beautifully arranged gardens and art located around the grounds. Our guide, Susanna I believe was her name, was excellent and full of answers to all of our group's many questions. Brunch at the restaurant was authentic, delicious and well served.

I attended a wedding at Houmas House for a night wedding. The ride from New Orleans is about an hour. After you get off the interstate the roads are narrow (2 lane )and not lighted. There is a sign for Houmas House, but finding the driving entrance to the location was very confusing if you are unfamiliar with the area. The staff and wedding servers were all pleasant and very helpful. The venue is very spacious with beautiful landscaping and flowers. There are several satellite buildings with long walkways and seating areas. A highlight of the venue are the lovely old oak trees and light changing water fountain central to the reception area buildings. The only negative opinion about the venue is the darkness of those same pathways when leaving the reception. It was very hard to get your bearings back to the parking lot since there was limited lighting. Walking on the cobblestones at night was also hazardous and potentially a tripping risk. Overall I had a great time, the cocktail hour outside was surprisingly bug free, guests could spread out with the available bar setup and tables. The water fountain became a selfie spot before going into the dining room. The food was well done, and tasty.

Had a small family gathering to celebrate a nephew's 40th birthday. Grounds are gorgeous, had 2 turkeys loose. Hope they made it through the holidays intact. Had the Sunday brunch which had a wide variety of excellent foods. The dining room is lovely and the service was great. Every where you looked in the garden area were surprise sculptures or a water feature. One small pond had a swan.

Had a lovely time at the Houmas House. The grounds are impeccably kept, and the rooms are spacious and charming. A great story about the evolution of the plantation over time. I would definitely come back!
