Friendly knowledgeable staff in a quaint rustic atmosphere. Parking, however, can be a bit of a challenge depending on the time of day.

This place is wonderful. It has great food with a great atmosphere. Their almond croissants are delicious. Be prepared, though, to be around new moms with babies in carriers if it is earlier in the day on a Saturday.

Really cute local cafe with a wide variety of healthy food, snacks and drinks. Although warning, they tend to run out of food later in the day, so getting there earlier is probably best. Their open faced sandwiches are very tasty and their hibsicus tea is delicious as well

Ive been coming here for a long time and will continue to do so. Fresh, creative, and delicious pastries. The coffee is top tier. The staff is very friendly. I highly recommend this place.

The atmosphere is very uppity but if that's your thing it's the plus for you. The black bean brownies are amazing if they have them available but ultimately the coffee was not very flavorful. I prefer garden district coffee just down the road.

Good coffee.
Unfortunately I will always compare Magpie to themselves from a few years ago. Back then, Magpie was great! They had developed a cult-like following. Then, I would drive 15 minutes to get a coffee and a biscone. Now, I barely stop in even if I am driving by.

Cozy local place with friendly staff and talented baristas. Always fresh made baked goods and plenty of options for paleo and vegetarian/vegan. The paleo chocolate chip cookie is awesome, and they make fresh quiches every morning. Atmosphere is great and the walls feature rotating local artists with a bulletin board for local events. There is also dog-friendly outdoor patio seating.

Good espresso pull and pastries. Their wifi is solid and the house music they played was nice. I'd give it 5 stars, but the folks working seemed to be more interested in finishing a text then asking if I wanted help when I first walked in.

It is a pleasure to see once abandoned and neglected spaces downtown rise phoenix-like into glory. Okay, that may be a little much but it's not far from the truth.
As part of the rehabilitation of the Commerce Building, Magpie Cafe Downtown has taken on old, long abandoned department store on street level and changed it into an open, bright (but not TOO bright), welcoming space. In that space they serve breakfast and lunch from an ever-changing menu based on what's in season (for the most part), an array of baked goods, coffee and espresso drinks, teas, and - interestingly - beer, wine, and craft cocktails.
My only quibble is this, I like lemon in my water. The attentive wait staff bring a small glass and a carafe of water with lemon on a side plate. I squeeze the lemon into the carafe and . . . no napkin, anywhere. It seems a napkin is only in evidence when ordering something on a plate from the menu. It's a small thing but I really don't like having to wipe my fingers on my pants or get up to go to the restroom to wipe my hands on a towel. It's easy to fix and I hope they do.
Otherwise, everything I've had to eat and drink from Magpie Cafe Downtown has been quite tasty!

Some of the best coffee in Baton Rouge! A little classy and high-end, and the price reflects it but they make one amazing cup of Java. More like a big city coffee bar then a small town hangout café, but with the quality to back it up.
