The best coffee shop in Baton Rouge! The coffee is delicious and the tea as well. The atmosphere is perfect for casual conversations, people watching, school work, or just reading a book for fun.

The coffee is good. Not jaw-droppingly great, but consistently good. The snack food offerings are meh. The vibe is studious, which is to be expected in a student haunt. I particularly like the sheltered, shady outside seating area alongside the building.

Plenty of choices for coffee addicts and a nice selection of teas along with biscottis or muffins and cake. They always play classical music and the place is usually packed with college students. Prices are close to Starbucks but at least you're helping a local business. They have rewards program as well. There's a patio area like a courtyard if you're a smoker.

Highland has been my research home-away-from-home this summer! Not only are their prices sooooo reasonable, but the staff are very accommodating to various dietary needs (ie, they have multiple varieties of milk in the back, not just dairy, and multiple forms of sugar-free or unsweetened beverages). I really, really enjoyed this coffee shop. I hope I can find something as good in Dallas. They serve hot hibiscus tea if you ask for it. There's plenty of searing, both indoors and out: I spent a lot of successful working hours under their shade arbor. As an added bonus, they are close enough that you can connect to Let's internet. 😋😁☕

Seriously one of my favorite coffee shops in the South, and I live in Houston where there is a new "microroaster" on every corner. Despite never stepping foot in highland while I was at LSU, it's now become an absolute favorite and a lovely stop for GREAT coffee in a city dominated by community coffee and their burned swill.... (sorry locals - I was never able to develop a taste for CC).
You can also buy beans and coffee making paraphernalia, pastries and t shirts. The environment is super laid back. Even though it's literally at the gates of LSU, I've never felt crowded by college aged kids. Many of the regulars are older professionals, retirees, or grad students. They have a great patio and easy access to good food when you're ready for breakfast (louies) or lunch (rauls, chimes).
Seriously, if you are serious about coffee, give these guys a visit.

One of the best cafes in Baton Rouge. I have great memories in this place from when I used to study in LSU. The coffee place is very cozy and great for studying. The coffee tastes great!

Highland Coffees has several things going for it.
1. Brewed coffee is fantastic. I highly recommend the Sumatran, Brazilian Oro, or Costa Rican La Minita medium roasts (when available)
2. Granita Latte (imagine a strong frozen coffee with the consistency of a margarita). Add chocolate or caramel, or enjoy without flavor.
3. Affogato (delicious vanilla ice cream with a shot of espresso poured on top)
4. Good tea selection. Lots of options.
5. Lots of tables and chairs for meetings, studying, or hanging out.
6. Their hours are awesome! Open earlier and later than any other coffee shop in town! 6:30am-11pm most days.
Their espresso drinks are good, not the best in Baton Rouge (Magpie Café is #1), but definitely solid. The wifi is slow on busy afternoons, but not unbearably slow (like Garden District Coffee's wifi). If you're on campus, this is a must-visit coffee shop.

My children went to LSU and loved this place. I've been here a few times and have tried several different coffees and have bought a few pounds to bring home. Delicious coffee and a good ambiance - I'm a fan.

One of the few locally owned coffee shops in Baton Rouge. Great atmosphere, crowded during midterms and finals. They roast their own coffee before brewing.

If you don't mind being judged for buying overpriced mediocre coffee that may not be the new hip drink then go for it. Also lots of babes go here
EDIT: I left this comedic review initially, but the owner of this business searched on Facebook to find me and personally message me about this review which I had assumed hopefully nobody would take seriously. So here's my shiny new review!
New revised review:
Decent.
