The atmosphere: clean and spacious with high ceilings and outdoor seating. There aren't many places to sit if it's midterms or finals.
Service: it's alright, the staff get your order and fill it quick enough, though often times I've found them to drag on their own personal conversations when there's a line.
The coffee and pastries: Coffee is good, not amazing but it's perfectly fine while reading or having a coffee talk with friends. The pastries are overpriced for the below average quality. They taste refrigerated, artificial, and unpleasant.

Hehehe I’m sooooo happy, but sad at the same time.
This coffee shop is amazing!!
I’ve been having this saved in my want to go list for years!
Last time I didn’t stop because of parking but I found parking this time! Jiji
I’m sad because I love this place and i live So far from here!
With such a relaxing Vibe, I could read books all day.

Highland coffee provided excellent service and delicious coffee. On top of that their pastries are to die for. I definitely recommend this coffee place to everyone in Baton Rouge. If you're a non-sweet aficionado, like myself, you should definitely try the French Vanilla Iced Coffee. You're welcome!

Great coffee shop! It's huge inside with a lot of different seating options. Very low key ambiance with classical music playing in the background. I'm a fan of their flavored (unsweetened) iced coffees. Great place to study or just relax.

Well, I am biased since I worked here 14 years ago... but it's such a great atmosphere and the coffee, teas and foods are really delicious. So many teas to choose from, so many coffees roasted onsite. Fresh ground coffees, granita, espresso drinks, blended drinks, muffins, cakes and other sweets, bagels and croissants... everything I've ever had is really great. Owned by a local who is on site every day to make sure everything is running smooth. Always interesting art to see (rotated frequently to give local artists exposure), delicious desserts (made by local bakers), interesting articles to read (sit in the comfy chairs and fall asleep), and certainly always interesting conversations to have with the variety of patrons. A staple for Baton Rouge as much as the Chimes or LSU itself, you owe it to yourself to drop by and give it a whirl. Grab a cup before or after you go to the Chimes or Louie's. They're open late!

Highland Coffees = Baton Rouge/LSU's version of Central Perk

PSA: This place is not on Highland by typical location descriptions!! It's off Chimes next to insomnia cookies. The green tea is ok not great. The iced caramel macadamia iced coffee was pretty darn good though!! The Lemon Blueberry Bread was good for the value and not overly sweet!

Fabulous coffee! I got a decaf vanilla iced latte & it was perfect!! Not too sweet, creamy, delicious! The chocolate muffin was also excellent -- very soft.
The staff is very friendly & helpful. There are lots of seating choices and wifi. I really enjoyed my time there. 😊

I visit this location this morning around 11am. It was semi-busy and we didn’t mind. I was excited because I was about to get coffee. This soon changed. The young lady that helped us either had a long night or no sleep because she was leaning on the corner and yawning. She took our order and made our drinks. So we ordered two coffees (ice lattes both with oat milk and one with flavor) which would have came to $4 & change which I rounded to $5 each. That came to $10 for coffee and my daughter got an fruit ice blended drink which was $5 & some change and I rounded it to 6. So my total before tax would have been $16 plus tax. She charged me $22.25. Of course I paid. I ask if she can explain how did she come up with the price she informed me that it was tax. After going back and forth with her clearing it wasn’t making sense to her and she couldn’t figure out how she over charged me. I left feeling cheated. If she just wanted the tip she could have just said that! There were some more other things that happened this morning but I just don’t have time to list them all. Very bad experience!
