Delightful coffee shop that opened in the middle of the pandemic - it's really a testament to their quality that they are now thriving! The owners/baristas are happy to talk coffee if you want all the deep details on their roasts and processing. Or quick with a recommendation if coffee specifics aren't your vibe. Highly recommended for all coffee drinkers!

Nice coffee shop! Beautiful space. I could see myself bringing some work here. I grabbed a few drinks with a friend. She's not a coffee drinker but there were a lot of alternatives for her. She got a lemonade tonic. I got a delicious latté. The espresso tasted great! Also, it was really cool to see that they use actual matcha tea powder and prepare it the traditional way. Can't wait to try this place again the next time I'm in the area

Nice friendly open space. We enjoyed the coffee flight of espresso, drip, Cortado, and cold brew, with a gluten considerate lemon cake. Can’t say that the cake was bad. But, gluten-free does not taste real good to me….

Possibly the best coffee shop in northwest Des Moines suburbs…Matt expertly roasts beans on premise, and the espresso is quite possibly the smoothest I’ve had. The flight was served promptly, for a very reasonable price, and provides a great sample of a variety of beverage types. Treat a friend to specialty drinks to try even more featured drinks.

Holy wow, how is there a coffee place THIS CREATIVE and AMAZING in a strip mall in Grimes, Iowa? The drinks are inspired (seriously; I'm not overstating). The owners are friendly and obviously passionate about what they have created. On my first visit, of course I had to try the coffee flight. Boom- why don't more places offer this? On my second visit, I had a cortado with oat milk- and who knew, cortados can be good with oat milk? Then I had two drinks off of their spring menu. HOLY SCHMOLEY, I am STILL thinking about those drinks. First, the Brown Butter Oat- an Oat milk latte with house-made Browned Vegan Butter & Brown Sugar syrup, topped with a pinch of Pink Salt. That sprinkle of salt gave it a crunch and a twist that was surprising and delicious. And vegan! Then, the (mostly) caffeine-free and very colorful
Blue Skies - Organic Butterfly Pea Flower (aka “Blue Matcha”), almond milk & house-made Jasmine syrup.
I Cannot. Stop. Thinking. About. This. Drink. Out of this world flavor. And did I mention the color?
The only downside of Lightbrite is the smallish seating area. Quite frankly this would not be a downside if it was a tucked away secret, but I think the word is out about how great this place is. If you go there to work for a couple hours, as I did, you will be lucky to find a spot to set up your computer. And if you are lucky enough to get one, you will quickly feel guilty for taking up part of the seating area when so many folks are coming in and looking for a spot to sit. Maybe someday another spot in that strip mall will open up and they can expand. Until then, go early or consider offering half your table to strangers looking for a seat. Have a great drink and make a new friend! Win-win.
Thanks Lightbrite folks for some great stuff.

Best coffee in Grimes! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I brought a coffee mug and they refilled it. I asked questions about the lattes and the baristas was able to provide a recommendation. Plenty of seating, although I did see a man take his coffee to go on a bike. I always make a point to stop here when I’m in Grimes.

This was a great stop so close the gym where our kid played volleyball. Worth the stop so much variety and a very clean and energizing cup of coffee. Love that they work with local producers for what they offer.

1st time here. Owner greeted me and we talked about the coffee, their service/product model and the roasting process. Great vibe. Based on amount of people in the shop around 9 am, I'd say they have a loyal following. Looking forward to stopping by again soon.

My wife and I were visiting family this last weekend and stopped in to read and have a quick cup. The physical space and atmosphere were top notch, but we were even more impressed with the service; Matt was incredibly friendly and took the time to answer our questions and give us recommendations, even as they were (understandably) very busy. Would advise anyone to go out of their way to check this place out - we'll definitely be returning and hope to catch some roasting in action!

Great seasonal drinks and friendly staff! Perfectly located right off the highway.
