Smo Row is a Des Moines staple! Check it out if you're in town. Outside of their coffee, Highly recommend their Cinnamon Roll & chocolate muffin, both warmed up :)

We stopped in for a coffee on a road trip to see our son at college. I ordered a Dirty Chai Latte; it was incredible! So tasty and spicy. My husband ordered the Smokey Vanilla Shake. He really liked it too. Thank you Smokey Row. So worth the stop.

Love the vibe here. My chicken salad croissant was delicious and the service was friendly and prompt.

Coffee was disappointing:(
Last night my wife and I stopped in for some dessert & coffee. I ordered the pie and our drinks. The drinks came out fairly quick (she got a smoothie) but the pie took forever!!!
I just wanted a nice HOT cup of coffee with my piece of pie. When I took the first drink of my coffee it as barley warm. I politely went up to the counter and asked for some hot coffee and told her that mine was just luke warm. She refilled my cup and handed it back to me…..then she said if I wanted it hotter that she could microwave it🤦🏻♂️
I’m in a coffee shop (it was 7:45 and they close at 9pm) but come on. You are in the coffee business and can’t make a fresh pot. It also tasted old like it had been sitting in the tank that dispenses it for a longggg time.
I like iced coffee and other drinks but when I’m drinking black coffee I like it hot! Obviously she didn’t care about me…..the customer.
Also, I know that we are only talking about a cup of coffee but it’s the point….it cost very little to make a fresh pot🤷🏻♂️

To start the parking situation isn’t the best but that’s not restaurants fault, just be prepared for it. This place is ADORABLE, decorated wonderful, amazing atmosphere. The employees were absolutely glorious! Super super sweet, and helpful(: the food was no less satisfactory, I ate more than I normally do and still wanted more... it was THAT good! I got the panini and my dad got the burger, they were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. He loved his coffee, and we both very much enjoyed the cinnamon roll we got as well. Definitely worth the stop!!!!!

Continuing to impress- everyday.
When I lived in my hometown, I had two favorite spots for breakfast. Cabin coffee, where I got the best scones, and Lake Coffee and Ice Cream... They served the best spiced chais. I'm the type of consumer that likes to get the same order, Everytime. I've tried many purchased replacements(coffees, scones, breakfast sandwiches, every spiced chai I could get my hands on) from local grocery chains, but all of them tasted nothing like the chai I had back home.
I recently moved near the Sherman Hill area. I had my first business meeting at Smokey Row and was excited to see they were offering spiced chais. I quickly made my purchase, and was EXTREMELY happy to find out they use the exact same powder as the (now closed permanently) coffee shop back home.
Today I've tried their blueberry scones, only to find they are quite similar to my favorite scones at Cabin Coffee, if not better.
Weird side note, I have an easily upset tummy and their rise and shine sandwich doesn't bother me at all! Edit: they have let me down quite a few times recently, the most recent being that we walked thirty min to get food and drinks, the girl in front of us got her order, and we were turned away because the system suddenly shut down. The last few times were multiple orders of a medium iced vanilla latte, we received mediums, and when we asked for a large, the girl just put milk in it, and dumped the medium in. I've asked quite a few times for guac on my rise and shine, only realizing once I got home that they put guac on it. I had to turn around and come back for a new one. A great place but quickly becoming not my favorite anymore

Had the Bear Creek Caramel shake and it was great. We also had the Chocolate Peanut Butter shake and it was delicious.

The lightest tiramisu I’ve had in a long time!

Smokey row used to be a bar and deli type place, sadly it's no longer that. It's got a drive thru the menu is hard to read, to get a burger or Italian soda gotta go inside they aren't on the outside menu of the drive thru, drive thru people are impatient and rude, they apparently don't know how to make turtle mocha cappuccino or butterfinger lattes because both drinks tastes like espressos with cream and sugar

The staff is super friendly and they're always fast to get my order whether it's a coffee, ice cream, or burger. The prices are fair; expect normal coffee shop cost...but you can get a muffin and small coffee for about $5!
