Smokey Row Coffee

Excellent breakfast and coffee. Plan to visit again in the future.

I frequently drive from Omaha to Oskaloosa to visit family.
Whenever we get to Oskaloosa we always meet at the Smoky Row there to enjoy good food and great coffee.
I knew there was another location in DesMoinse so I decided to visit on my way back and get some good coffee for the ride home.
Well, the first time I got a brewed cup of there house coffee and realized as I left that it was not fresh and actually cold.
I didn't hold it against them because I realize everyone has an off day so on our next trip I went 22 miles out of my way to get some coffee for the ride home.
There was some "micro lot" coffee at the counter that cost almost twice aa much as the other coffees so I asked what the difference was. She said micro is smaller and "that is a question for google". I kind of thought it was a question for the person selling it to me.
I decided to try it anyway even though she spoke to me very dismissively and I also bought a bag of Tanzanian Peaberry like I do everytime I come this way but this is the last time I'll stop at the DesMoinse Smoky Row.
Their untrained, unfriendly staff have made me decide to find another coffee shop in DesMoinse to buy my coffee from.
Oskaloosa Smoky Row gets 4 Stars everytime! They are friendly, helpful and the coffee is always hot and fresh.
DesMoinse Smoky Row is just barely going through the motions. Shame on you.

First time experience and will definitely return! Had a fantastic root beer float, panini sandwich, chips and took 3 different types of muffins home for later enjoyment! The cream cheese one was phenomenal! My daughter tried the pot pie and said it was very good. All my other 3 guests had coffee products and loved them. The atmosphere was great as was the service! Always wanted to go here and so glad we finally chose it for a get together!!!

They have good coffee drinks but not the best in Des Moines. The best coffee places lack great good to go breakfast sandwiches. This is where they have the niche. Good coffee drinks with excellent breakfast sandwiches.

I got the Denver. It's a Denver omelet deconstructed for a breakfast sandwich on a cibatta bun. Always tasty. I prefer sit down breakfast but when I'm on the go and neex a good breakfast sandwich with good coffee drinks. One of my go to places.

Horrible, expensive breakfast sandwich. Cold with a pre-made egg patty. Not worth any price. Very disappointing.

Stopped by here to get some Coffee in our way through Des Moines. It was a convenient and easy drive through with lots of fun drink options. Our man at the window Marquis was an absolute delight! Marquis took fantastic care of us and we will probably be back on our way through Des Moines when we head home.

The staff is very polite and courteous with a very clean shop. Two things would improve it emensly. A sign for the line for those of us who enter from the south door. A wider selection of pop would be great. Not everyone drinks coke, det coke, or Root beer.

Love a good coffee house and Smokey Row is certainly one of them. Stopped in before an event at Hoyt Sherman and had a quick meal. Food and environment were both great. Will definitely be back again!

Cool, industrial style coffe-house, with a throw back vibe. Good selection of drinks - (not just coffee). Parking is tight - especially since "bigger on the inside" really applies to this place! Variety of muffins & amazing cinnamon rolls, as well as pumpkin bars!
