Excellent social distancing and sanitation. The pork and chicken tacos were fabulous. I just wish they would have crushed the ice on the margarita like they crushed it with the food. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this outdoor experience.

Delicious street tacos and tortas. Good atmosphere to meet with friends. Enjoyed nice sunny window seat.

Very tempted to give 5 star review but I've only been once and haven't tried all of the food and drink options. However, the service was friendly and professional. And the food I did have was was excellent. Ambiance was great. Great date place for sure. Street parking can be hit or miss but there are 2 City surface lots located close by that not many people know about.

Service was great. They offer happy hour in the bar from 4 to 6pm on weekdays. Ther restaurant wasn't open when we got the but they let us sit there anyway which was nice. We had dinner plans for later so just had appetizers.
The chips and guacamole basket was a nice serving. The guacamole was fresh and flavorful. We also had the fundido. It tasted ok but was a little weird. More like a artichoke dip.
Overall a cute place. we would try it another time.

As far as bar restaurants go this is a little more on the bar side because the menu is somewhat Limited. However, with that being said, the food they do have is absolutely delicious and the cocktails are all very interesting. Contemporary Mexican style food and they even have a comuter window for early risers on the way to the train you can't miss it!

Ordered a couple tacos and a churro to go with a coworker. I got the tuna and the al pastor both were delicious, though on the smaller side for price point. Spices were good but not overwhelming. They look like they have great happy hour specials and I’ll definitely need to dine in soon.
Update: Went back to La Principal for a work happy hour and it was great! Margaritas were strong - guava margarita was excellent. Tried the short rib taco, so delicious! And the elotes was high on the list as well!

Food there is nothing special definitely not worth the 45 min wait for a take out order. The customer service though is terrible. The lady that took my order said 10 min wait time that turned out into 45 minutes wait (not to mention that everyone else who order after me , there order was ready before mine). I understand it could get busy but this is definitely not the right way to treat your clients. Having another lady who works there to come and yell at me instead of apologizing for the inconvenience and not telling us every 10 minutes that we have to wait another 10 minutes. This place definitely needs better managment and customer service.

You can't go wrong with with La Principal. The margarita's are delicious and pack a punch. The taco's are fabulous, authentic, and inexpensive. I've brought friends and family to eat here on more than one occasion. The best Mexican food in Evanston.

Amazing food. The tacos are delicious and a the staff is great! It gets pretty packed around normal eating times so make sure to get there before you're too starving. :)

This place is really close to my house near the Howard Red Line station in Chicago. I could actually walk there in just under 30 minutes on a warmer day. The ambiance is nice although the space is a little smaller. The bar fills up quickly and that's where i met up with my friends. Music is always playing over the speakers. The prices are really affordable; the tacos i ordered were $4 each and i got a hard apple cider for $6, so my whole meal was less than $20. The servers were very attentive, but not overly so. Just be sure to ask to split the bill.
