The number one bfast spot in Carbondale. I went here nearly daily from 2005-2008. Every year after when I came in for deer camp, I had my breakfast and visited the friendly staff. Harbaugh's is my beloved breakfast Cafe.
My suggestion : bacon and onion skillet with a chocolate chip pancake on the side. You can't lose.

Me and a co-worker were there to perform some maintenance on the owners PC. As compensation, we were allowed to eat free. The place had lots of room to sit and eat, which you would not expect from outside looking in. Food was good. The sausage used in the biscuits and gravy was very good. I had a bacon skillet which was portioned well and tasted great. This place is definitely one of the better restaurants of Carbondale that isn't part of a large chain.

Though dinner is not served, it is still worth a try.

Really good food and a fun atmosphere. If you're ever stuck in Carbondale, IN. Look this place up for breakfast or lunch. The bakery treats weren't as good as the regular menu but others seemed to really enjoy it.

I love coming here for bfast! However, today my omelette was burned. And not just a little burned. When I brought it to the attention of the waitress, she said, "oh". I get being in the weeds and rushing, but Stevie Wonder could see that the meal should've never left the kitchen!

I've always like Harbaugh's. I enjoyed it this time as well though it did seem the plates/servings were a bit smaller than usual. My sandwich had a smaller than usual piece of chicken and my cup of soup was only about 2/3 full. Still delicious.

Biscuits and gravy, chocolate chip pancakes, and the Wisconsin scramble are all fantastic choices.

Great atmosphere! Quick service, good food.eggs, omelettes, bacon/sausage etc, B&G, all the breakfast standards plus Veggie Eggs Benedict. Family friendly!.

I often joke -
"
Hipsters go to Long Branch,
Real people go to Harbaugh's.
"

They both serve Breakfast Burrito, which really is all that matters to me.
And they are both good.

There are many reasons to go to Harbaugh's:
1. if you want to stuff your face with carb (go with the french toast)
2. if you are too poor to afford Long Branch's menu
3. if you want to start the day off with a full stomach
4. if you want food that doesn't make you regret after you eat it
5. if you are an SIU student (you can just walk there, probably)
6. if you want the authentic, homely cafe ambiance
7. if you want to run into your classmates
8. if you want control over your coffee (they give you a jug full of coffee)

A staple of Carbondale for sure. We go there every time we visit. The pancakes are huuuge and delicious! The side of potatoes they serve are awesome. It's a cozy place, and can get a line out the door anytime of the year. Well worth any wait.

As reliable as your favorite shoes. The food and service at Harbaugh's have never been anything less than impeccable. Breakfast is the winning move here. Nothing is wrong with the lunch dishes; it's just that the breakfast dishes are exceptional. My favorites are the huevos rancheros, stuffed French toast, and garden veggie frittata.
