Harbaugh's Cafe

My husband and I ate here a couple of weeks ago. We really enjoyed our experience. The food was delicious with generous portions and the staff was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant felt very welcoming. We visited on our way out of town. We were both students at SIU and it was nice to eat close to the campus.

Outstanding food, service is a little shotty but I didn't go to a cafe for service, I go for the standard food not 5 star stakes. I had the Eggs Benedict and the egg was cooked perfect. My yoke wasn't hard. It was decadently delicious! Oh and the ranch potatoes were wonderful too! My friends got the omelets and pancakes. We had just finished a 2 mile hike and we cleaned our plates. It all looked really good.

Out of towners. Breakfast for 7. Promptly seated and provided drinks by very welcoming gentlemen. Food was great. Service even better. We couldn’t have asked our waiter for any better service. That’s really what’s it’s all about. Your expected to make good food. The service is what keeps you coming back. All smiles even behind their mask! We’ll be back!

Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff! The menu has something for everyone, including vegetarian options. They offer daily lunch specials and flavor of the day coffees and teas. Parking can be tricky if they are busy. They used to be cash only, but have recently begun taking cards.

Love this place! The Wisconsin Scramble is my favorite. The pancakes are excellent, too. They always have good, strong coffee with real cream. They have lots of good options for lunch, too, including daily specials. Service is good amd the eclectic decor will entertain your eyes while you eat. Great local spot!

This place was absolutely outstanding. The food was great, very polite and speedy service, and the atmosphere was really nice as well. It’s a nice and cozy little place with great colorful decor. The plating was beautiful and everything was very flavorful. I recommend this place for anyone in the Carbondale area! 10/10, fantastic!

Ironically, I've eaten there over a dozen times but I can still only give it a couple of stars. Most of the time I go it's because other people want to go. This is mainly because of the inconsistent food and because none of the dishes are really that original. It amazes me what passes for "good" food. Service is always pretty much the same. It's always packed, which I think is a big part of the reason for the inconsistency. The banana/walnut pancake is great when not overcooked and the hash browns should always be ordered extra crispy (w/ onions of course) or they are very blah. They definitely need more room and more staff to cover the volume of people. Overall however, I still think it's overrated.
