Amazing experience here! It was lovely talking to Brian about the business and his passion for coffee. The pour overs are incredible and the shop has such a calming and happy ambiance. Thank you to Becca as well for the mocha recommendation - we loved the lava shot!
If you live in the area, don’t miss it! If you’re a tourist, this is the perfect stop on the way from Hilo to Volcanoes National Park. We saw a stunning eruption in Halema’uma’u crater this evening and Koana coffee was *still* a major highlight of our day. It was that good!

Great spot!!!! We passed by on the way to the volcano national park. Love the lava mocha, the kelp tea and the small talks about coffee and traveling we had there. It’s definitely a can’t miss on big island.

The owner served me and was so friendly and caring. I had a sunburn and he gave me some fresh aloe from his garden for some relief. Really kind, funny, and personable. I had light roast iced coffee that was lovely. The atmosphere was beautiful as well.

Best pour over coffee ever. I drove 20 miles out of the way just to get another cup. The owner has a passion for coffee and it shows. I have been to many coffee shops in PNW and Koana beats them all with locally sourced and roasted beans. Keep up the good work! I'm ready to make a trip back to the big island just for Koana

Great coffee, delightful people, cozy hammock. Plan to take your time and enjoy a mochi donut from next door while she brews the pour over coffee, grown locally, with a lovely chat.

Great experience and superb coffee! If you’re looking for a specialty coffee spot, you can’t beat Koana. Owner and staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Their specialty coffee offerings were expertly prepared without being snooty. Their chocolate lava was the perfect blend of chocolate and spice. Ambiance was nice and cozy for a cold rainy day. Can’t say enough positive things about the place. If you’re on the big island, you need to stop by.
