I had a great lunch. I got the country fried steak with broccoli casserole and cornbread stuffing. My girlfriend got the fried chicken with lima beans and fried okra. The food was great and we had an all around good experience.

I was visiting from out of state and Cafe 209 was highly recommended…. It was my first time at Cafe 209, and I certainly look forward to returning whenever I’m in the area 😊. The food was very tasty 😋. I had a generous portion of fried flounder, cole slaw and collard greens. The prices are more than reasonable! Overall, I had a great experience!

I have been coming to Cafe 209 since my late teens, and I am 40 now. This was my first time to the present location and I am so glad that I finally did! The food was just great as it always has been. Those first bites brought me back to my teens and early 20s living downtown. I even took a pic of my food, sent to my dad and he was there the next day eating and thanking me for it!

We got to the restaurant 25 minutes before they closed but you would have never known it, the service was fast, courteous and quite impressive. They played great r&b, my husband and I were singing songs the entire time. The food was impeccable. I had beef liver and onions w/rice and collards with a side of yams, my husband had fried pork chop, cabbage and macaroni and cheese with cornbread. All I can say is "who's granny cook this". The food was so good and a bonus for me was none of the veggies were cooked with pork. We also took home butter pecan & red velvet cake, I can't wait to dig into those, we were just too full to fit them in after dinner. My family will definitely be back.

Absolutely the best tasting soul food restaurant to date. That includes stops in Charleston and New York. Yesterday was our first visit, but it will not be our last. As we sampled off each each other's plates, we agreed that every item was perfect. There were no bold or colorful dishes. In fact, each one was just simple, soulful, and seasoned to perfection. The building is not lavishly decorated, but the food is great.

The food here is excellent. This is real down home cooking and they do an excellent job. Fried and baked chicken, pork chops, country steak and more. The bbq chicken is my favorite with okra and tomatoes and collard greens. You can't go wrong. Gotta get there early because they close at 4.

Wasn't too pleased with my meal. I ate there before and it was great, but this time around it was a waste of money. The chicken was bland and didn't have much of a taste. The candied yams tasted like they came straight out of the can. The macaroni was good until I got to the bottom half, where it was burnt and tasted burnt and watery. I also had a peach cobbler for dessert and it was disgusting, only ate a little bit and threw it out. I paid $2.99 for a 5 oz container which is ridiculous. The only good thing on the tray was cornbread.

As long as I've lived in Augusta, WHYYY HAVE I NEVER BEEN HERE?!?! My husband and I had a business meeting downtown that ran long so we were going to grab fast food but we drove by Cafe 209 and stopped there instead. So glad we did! The pork chop was seasoned nicely... the greens... the mac and cheese... everything was good. Definitely gonna be a regular!

I have supported this business from their beginning, and have watched the quality of food go down hill. Yesterday, I ordered the hamburger steak and gravy with corn, collards, and corn muffin. I got the hamburger steak with NO gravy, and extra onions. (I asked specifically for no onions.) I will take the blame for not checking the plate before leaving, but I can not take the blame for the way the food was cooked. The hamburger steak was thick, but was red in the middle, and wasn't cooked all the way through. It tasted like someone poured salt on top of it, as did the corn and collard greens. Both sides were overly salty, and I ended up throwing the plate in the trash. The peach cobbler was just peaches----no crust----and was more of a fruit cup than a cobbler. The best thing about the meal was the lemonade and tea that I had to drink to get the salty taste out of my mouth.

I am not sure what happened to this establishment, but the love and care for food that once was a staple in Cafe 209 has long gone. I will not spend another dime here because the last 3 experiences have not been good, and I don't trust the food to be as tasty as it once was. I lost $20 and my appetite, but I will not make that mistake again!
