Southern comfort food at its best. Great choice of meats prepared the way you desire. Delicious choice of varied vegetables.

Don't recommend the sweet tea, apparently they like it tasting like dirty feet. And I had trouble getting my waitresses attention for refills on my sprite. But the food was good

The food and service are wonderful. Great place for southern home cooking. Our only complaint is that it gets very loud during lunch time so we recommend getting there between 11 and 11:30.

Me and my husband went for lunch today ( dec 18th ) we got there around 11:12. First the waitress said they didn’t have menus and we would have wait a moment ( which was fine bc we had time ), we waited about 25 - 30 min just for a menu. Then we ordered sweet tea and our food ( from the older lady who wasn’t our waitress ). The older lady working there gave us unsweetened tea twice... we waited 1 1/2 for our food to come out... which it never did! Mine you there were 5 cops that came in after us and they got their food before we did. My husband got up and asked about our food and the older lady told him she forgot to put in our order.. and asked if we could wait longer.. 😡 we got up and left. We were really excited to try it but it’s crazy how bad it customer service they have.

Waited 40 minutes for 6 wings and fries. Portions are very small. Wouldn't go here again.

Based on our first visit yesterday, Cafe 209 will likely become our downtown Southern & Soul food go-to.

We were greeted at the door by a lovely woman – the proprietress, perhaps – and led to a large booth in the clean, spartan and spacious dining room. Service was friendly and attentive.

We ordered the fried chicken – which is cooked to order, so allow about 20 minutes – and our dishes were delivered to the table several minutes apart, which was a little awkward for my dining companion and me but no biggie. The chicken was expertly fried, perfectly moist yet slightly underseasoned for our tastes; something that was remedied with a dash of Texas Pete hot sauce. Not that we expect fried chicken to be spicy, this was simply the quick fix at hand.

Sides were all spot-on and the housemade baked mac and cheese – not the ubiquitous, slick stovetop glop served elsewhere – tasted like home. We skipped dessert.

Next time, we'll go on a Friday and sample the fried fish. Looking forward to it.
