Nice place for a leisurely coffee and chat with friends. Good food. Service is a bit slow, and there seems to be some sort of time/motion problem. Takes longer to receive drinks and food than other similar establishments. Go figure.
Good quality baked goods. Reasonably priced.

I love this cafe. The food and coffees are great and they have some vegan and some gluten free options. They have always been super dog friendly as far as I’ve witnessed which I really appreciate (I am still cautious and I try not to over do it with my dog in restaurants. This isn’t really a place for dogs they just don’t seem to give people a hard time about it which is practical and humane). The people that work here have always seemed professional and kind. Also very well decorated! It’s so pretty

Black Coffee is quickly becoming my favorite brunch spot. Great service and solid food and coffee. Spacious outdoor area.

I'm always impressed with the quality of the food. Today was buttermilk pancakes with bacon and coffee. Go early on Sundays bc it gets busy!

The ham and cheese croissant is AMAZING, very cheesy and flavorful. The salmon is extremely fresh and delicate. 10/10

Black Coffee had me at fair trade coffee and a breakfast sandwich with "scallion spread." Black Coffee is THE coffee shop in a tight knit neighborhood along the Potomac River near Georgetown NW called the Palisades. On weekend mornings, Black Coffee is a community meeting spot; you'll take witness to neighbors saying hi to everyone in the coffee shop. Here's what's to love:
1) Atmosphere: Black Coffee combines the trendy coffee shop vibe with it's exposed bricks and pipes and a beautifully curated pastry glass box with a true neighborhood spot. It feels like home.
2) Food: They sell a variety of items from breakfast sandwiches to lox bagels to muffins. One of (if not the BEST) breakfast sandwiches in DC is here. On a brioche bun comes a fried egg (with the yolk oozing out when you bite into it), scallion spread, cheese, and your choice of bacon, turkey or pork sausage (I recommend the pork sausage).
3) Coffee: They brew Rise Up Coffee, which is a local roastery in Maryland. It's fair trade and organic and good!
Black Coffee is a GREAT spot to spent a morning. A few things to note: 1) It can get crowded on Sunday mornings so try to go right at 8AM when they open to snag a seat neat an outlet if you plan to tap into their free wifi, and 2) It's one of the least diverse coffee shops in the city due to the neighborhood. It's a beautiful community, but you'll notice most people look entirely the same.

Love this place! Have been going to Black Coffee for about 3 years now and it is one of my favorite coffee shops in the city. The baked good are outstanding, especially the cheddar biscuits! Although I always get black coffee (as in no cream), it always tastes fresh and perfectly brewed! Love the ample outdoor seating and the fact that the cafe is located well outside the busy DC center. One of the good places in DC!

This used to be one of our favorite breakfast places in the area, but they changed their menu and now, it's kind of a bummer. They used to have this amazing vegan breakfast sandwich..not even vegan, but it was breakfast perfection. The last time we got breakfast there was a few weeks ago and we grabbed these breakfast burrito bowls to go and when we got home it was like a sad salad with an egg on it. The pastries we picked up were still good.

Honeycrisp apple cider was a perfect cold morning treat! Pretty interior and great pastries!
