Great selection of bakery items and the raspberry spritz cookies have to be my favorite.

The New Glarus Bakery has cases full of beautifully baked items such as bars, cookies, breads and doughnuts. I purchased a lovely looking piece of layer cake and two different types of cookies. After tasting all of these items I am guessing that they were all made with mostly shortening as the fat.

The beautiful frosting on the cake had zero butter/rich flavor. . The cake itself tasted great as it was very moist and had a subtle flavor. What a waste, nice cake with bland, flavorless frosting.

One of the cookies had a lemon filling which tasted somewhat lemony. The cookie itself tasted very bland and had no rich flavor. The other cookie was flat with no filling. It had zero richness and was flavorless.

The bottom line: if you want bakery items that are not baked with much (if any) butter then this bakery is for you. Even though the staff was awesomely pleasant and the bakery cases were a treat for the eye I will probably not come back as I was underwhelmed with purchases.

The New Glarus Stollen is AMAZING! I just devoured a third of that bad boy. It's sinful. Hands down...the best Stolen I've ever had...period. I have a whole new perspective on New Glarus-style Stolen.

I had such an amazing experience visiting here! I am spending the week working remotely in New Glarus and this was a perfect little spot to stop for coffee and some goodies before work. All of the baked goods I sampled were phenomenal and the gentleman who assisted me was helpful and kind!

Went in because I had a $5 birthday reward today. Left with... a lot of stuff. I haven't had anything here I didn't like. I especially recommend the raisin pumpernickel, that is one of my favorites. Also any of their cheesecake and schnitten varieties (available by the slice, sold by weight) are delicious. Like any bakery you'll do well to be the early bird, but with a day or two of notice you can order online and pick up whatever you want.

People are nice, small assortment of baked goods. Not a lot of bread on the shelves. Prices are decent.

Small, but oh so mighty. We stopped in on a recommendation from a friend, and it was the best decision we made. The worst decision we made was not finding the time to come back here to get more treats before we went home!

The place is relatively small, but they had a really good variety of baked goods, from chocolate brownies to coffee cream cake to crispy and savory bread sticks. They also had coffee and hot tea for sale, but we stuck to the sweets! We ordered an almond horn, cream horn, and a "bee sting." The prices were pretty good as well, and we could have (and SHOULD HAVE) ordered more goodies.

Almond Horn - This was a pretty good horn. I think it just paled in comparison to our other purchases. It was flaky and light, and was a solid pastry horn.

Cream Horn - The cream. Let me repeat. THE CREAM. This is by far the BEST cream horn we had ever had, and it almost all comes down to the decadent cream inside. Sure, the flaky and crispy pastry was the perfect vessel, but its the copious amounts of lightly sweet, super silky, melt-in-your-mouth cream that stole the show. AMAZING.

Bee Sting - I'm done. This was so good I just can't stand that we don't live closer to this glorious little bakery that could. The top is a honey-almond topping, the middle is a THICK layer of buttercream, and the bottom is some sort of yellow cake. I couldn't believe the buttercream on this thing. The layer was so thick that I was a little worried at first, because buttercream can be cloyingly sweet sometimes, but this one was sheer perfection. It melted in our mouths, revealing a slightly sweet, lightly buttery flavor that was just unmatched by anything. It even beat the cream horn cream! It was that good.

We were unbelievably impressed by this little town bakery, and would highly recommend that you stop by if you are anywhere close to New Glarus. You will NOT leave unsatisfied.

Definitely on my 5 star list. My third or fourth visit. Love their cookies and pastries. Definitely worth the drive from Madison to this destination. Try the raspberry filled cookies!!!
