OOOOOH okay okay I LOOOVED this coffee shop--it looks like it was once an old firehouse and it's been restored into a hip, swanky coffee house with gorgeous interior and comfortable seating. The vibe was so good here--the couch we found was so comfy and the jazz playing on the speaker was lovely. Employees were friendly and the coffee was delicious. Also plants were all over the shop, it was so beautiful. I really loved this place!!

Absolutely fantastic coffee shop. The coffee, pastry, and food selection is great and very high quality along with the service. Additionally, the shop also has a super relaxed atmosphere and unique coffee shop style. There is substantial seating inside and outside in the shop’s side alley which has super neat decoration. Would certainly recommend and will definitely revisit. Great experience!

Coffee, atmosphere, and customer service are great! If you are looking to come here to work there are only two outlets that I could see next to a seat so plan ahead and charge your device ;) This would be a cute spot for a coffee date on a nice day.

My daughter took me here and it was delightful!!! The coffee (we had cortados with macadamia milk and lavender) was perfect! The vegan quiche was incrediable!

Edit: upped it a star for the response by management. I’ll definitely swing by when I’m in town. The atmosphere is worth it.
Great quality coffee. Sadly, the line was so long it took nearly 30 minutes to get an iced coffee. It was the cookie milk one...served without the cookie bc they were pretty frazzled. They gave me one when I asked about it, but the barista seemed annoyed o asked?? Chalking it up to a bad day? Maybe they were understaffed that morning? Live music was cool. Worth a visit. I’ll definitely swing by if I’m in Richmond again and hope it goes smooth 🤙

Espresso drinks are pretty hit or miss, and the drip is not good. Both are pricey for what you get. Awesome place to hang out, though. I think the wifi is time limited, so it’s only an awesome place to hang out for a little bit.

Such a cute coffee shop! I wish I could have stayed and enjoyed my coffee and sandwich in the shop, but that may have to wait until after pandemic times. I am definitely coming back.
Both food and coffee are fresh and use a lot of local ingredients. Breakfast sandwich on a bagel was filling and exactly what I was looking for. It's a little more expensive than some of the other breakfast places I've been, but the local and quality ingredients definitely justify that.

Really cool atmosphere! Love the vibe, and the coffee/latte art were great!

Cool building, but seemed understaffed and barista technique was lacking. Our pastry was fine. The milk steaming was good, but the espresso shots were all left to die which was disappointing. Could be easily fixed.

Hands-down the best coffee place in Richmond. Their atmosphere, staff, and products are all great. Whether you want to rock a cortado, sip a seasonal latte with macademia milk, or bring some whole beans home with you, they've got you. The baristas are so personable and nice, both at the Shockoe location and the West End location (which has a walk-up counter and a drive-thru ... perfect for combatting the stress of going to Short Pump, LOL). Their decor (and "tiny state park") is so cute and gives peaceful and cheerful vibes. They also took a really bold stance when one of their previous vendors (a bakery) was rude to me and my then-fiancee, now-wife. When we told them how we had been treated so negatively at the bakery, they let us know they would look into partnering with other more inclusive and affirming vendors for their baked goods. That's huge! We will forever stand by and for Ironclad -- no fimble-famble!!!
