Yesterday (Monday) was yet another Monday morning spent trying to figure out a good place for lunch (many are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays). Fortunately, I remembered August First! There was a long line, but it didn’t take long to place our order for 2 Vermonter sandwiches! As always, they were delicious! Highly recommend this restaurant and this sandwich!

Disappointed to pay $17 for avocado everywhere but inside the sandwich where it belongs. Was under the impression they made quality sandwiches but this is just sloppy…

Wow the croissants, pastries and bread are outstanding, light years away from your standard breakfast fare. We lucked out finding this place on our first visit to Burlington, son was securing accommodation for his Masters at UVM. When we visit, it is an absolute given that we get breakfast at August First!
My only slight criticism is that the savory scone (cheese, ham & scallion) has sugar in-it's savory guys, please omit the sugar! My personal faves are the Hungarian roll, Maple biscuit and cinnamon raisin pasty.

First time checkin this place out and I was very pleased. The toasted egg & cheese sandwich was delicious along with the oatmeal raisin cookies & Blueberry muffin ( yum ). Everything was fresh and I enjoyed the coffee as well. Lots of seating inside and out. We put our order in and went out to sit and drink our coffee’s and not more then 5 minutes they called my name over the intercom to pick up my order.

Fresh baked wholesome food. Line out the door for breakfast. Line moves quickly and people are busy working here as opposed to some places that are slow due to staff and management.

I meant to go here yesterday. Oh well! They should rename themselves August 2nd so I can go today. Also, biscuits are delicious here! Super delicious… my credentials include living in Georgia!

Line long enough to know it was going to be good. French bread and croissant fresh and made right. Hungarian roll was setting grand ma used to make not kiffle. Fine almond filling. Pilgrimage worthy griddled maple roll with a really nice raspberry jam(if it was commercial I would look for it). Coffee was perfect with the bake goods

Absolutely love this place! The design is very unique. It almost looks like it used to be an auto shop before they moved in. Their maple biscuits are amazing with their homemade jam and cabot butter. Their hot chocolate and cappuccino comes with plenty of foam, and their breads are amazingly fresh in the morning! Must try the chicken caprese sandwich!

This was the first and last place we went to for meals during our week-long trip in Vermont. It set a high bar (that wasn't met elsewhere). The sandwiches are amazing, but the maple biscuits are divine. I bought 4 extra to take on the plane...

Awesome breakfast menu and nice eatery; the story behind it is pretty interesting and all of the staff is “hustling and bustling”. Why ever go to a Burger King or Dunkin when you can have guaranteed freshness and something authentic
