Love the laptoplessness! Only critique is portion size - that avo toast was WAY too big, the bread was unpalatably thick. The flavours were delicious, service was fast and the staff very kind. Also would be great to have physical plates for food ordered on location, esp bc it was so messy to eat.

We went here for brunch two days in a row. Loved the BLT sandwich and the salads. Will probably go back again there tomorrow if we have time before heading to New York. Nice place too…

The perfect spot for breakfast! After eating here once, we ended up back here every morning for breakfast. Their vegan and vegetarian options are PERFECT for breakfast foodies and not boring at all. The atmosphere is super cute and the building is spacious.

Awesome bakery and breakfast place! Food was delicious. People are nice! Lots of seating outdoors and inside. Fast moving lines. Good coffee.

I love everything about this place. The service is fast and friendly, the lattes are smooth and creamy, and the breakfast sandwiches are exceptional, mostly because they're served on delicious freshly baked bread. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with high ceilings and two large glass garage doors that are usually open to create an open air feeling.

I think I’ve found THE tastiest breakfast sandwich! The building adds to the charm and is filled with delicious baked goods and complex sandwiches.
The kitchen is up close - it’s easy to fall in a trance watching each part of the operation on a busy morning. With plenty of seating, it’s a great spot to read or catch up with friends!

The great friendly place we found on our trip. Breakfast and lunch have many yummy options. Their bread is delicious.

I have been privileged in seeing August First change over the years, and I am happy that it has been passed to such great people. The food has stayed great, pastries and savory sandwiches alike.
I do however need to put in my two cents about a change that has diminished the homey feeling August First used to have. The transition from traditional, dishwasher plates to non-reusable take-out boxes. To me, this not only generates unnecessary waste, it also create an atmosphere of quantity of customers over quality of experience.
I understand the need for take-out during the pandemic and the cost increase in hiring a dish washer, but in the end, I do not want to go to a place that does not give me an option to reduce the trash I create. It makes me a little sad that so many people are okay to go along with this decision.
I have much love for the management (M&F), but I have to be honest in saying that this is something that is really pushing me away from visiting, and I will likely not come back until I don't have to worry about being a part of the problem.
5 stars for the food and people
2 stars for the decision to waste this much
