Had a wonderful anniversary dinner here not long ago. The setting was slightly more casual than I had imagined, but it still had a classy vibe to it. Our service was very good, and we really enjoyed the food. I had the seafood chowder, which is a dish that is hard to get just right in my opinion -- but they really nailed it with fresh ingredients and a good combination of textures and flavors. My wife tried one of the pasta dishes and was happy with it. We also had several of the small plates, which were uniformly excellent. I particularly recommend the duck rolls and tomato salad. We'll definitely look for an opportunity to go back!

The food is cooked very well. The service was a little rough at times but given the current state of labor I can't takeoff a star. The decor is very plain (white walls, no art, wood tables, hurricane candles). The flavor were very good, the steak cooked very well and site made pasta was strange looking but had good palette feel and tasted right. There was some cultural appropriation that seemed a little off (Japanese fried mushrooms on American steak, didn't really add anything but both tasted good).

Everything was amazing! Great cocktails, food, environment and service. Provisions has become my favorite restaurant in Salt Lake City.

Outstanding service, outstanding menu. So many good choices, you cannot go wrong. Every time I'm in Salt Lake, I make sure to have dinner at Provisions.

The service was slow and not very good. They gave us the food an hour after we got there and we were the first to arrive. After waiting for so long, the small plates came one by one instead of all at once. It was three small plates for 6 people. The food wasn’t very delicious, didn’t have much flavor except balsamic vinegar in almost very plate…the large plates came cold and the “half chicken” was more like a 1/4 a chicken (two legs and a small breast). The menu did NOT say that a “party gratuity” was going to be charged with the meal, so we found that unexpected charge ridiculous for 6 people. For the taste of the food and since the large plates were small, it was WAY too expensive! The pork chop was dry, grits had no flavor and the salmon was WAY undercooked. The pappardelle was probably the only thing worth the money. We don’t plan on going again. Bad service, average food, and expensive overall.

We had the most amazing meal for my birthday tonight!! The food and service were the best ever! When Mikey found out it was my birthday he looked all over a candle but when he couldn't find one he brought over a lighter for me to blow out. So fun!! Can't wait to go back and try more of their delicious food. Even the lemonade they gave me tasted incredible... they made me a special non carbonated version. I highly recommend this place!

Attended with a party of 7 and the staff took care of us with a smile. Appetizer and drink orders were handled swiftly and delivered to us much sooner than anticipated. I really enjoyed the calamari and steamed pork bun appetizers. All the dishes my group ordered looked great and I really enjoyed the curry seafood chowder. I look forward to returning.

Not sure what they mean by “modern American craft kitchen”. This place pretends to serve fusion cuisine but, honestly, they do it poorly. We had Crispy Fresh Duck Rolls which were very good. Hamachi crudo was ok. Brussel sprouts served with a poached egg were just passable.
As far as the large plates go, halibut was mediocre, not tender and fairly tasteless. Certainly would not qualify for “locally sourced fare” and it was not fresh either. Chicken and Dumplings was the biggest disappointment however. Dumplings were raw, while chicken breast was too salty. Everything was drowned in too much bok hoy.
Also, note that their Don Julio 1492 cocktail is significantly overpriced.
On the positive side, our server and eventually the manager accepted our critique and did not charged us for the Chicken and Dumplings, and discounted the cocktail.
My recommendation to the chef would be to keep things simple and let the ingredients, if they truly are locally sourced, exhibit thr flavor of freshness without overpowering them with Asian spices. I could not help myself but leave with an impression that an exuberance of fusion flavors was there to conceal the deficiencies in the main ingredients.
