Great food and service! Plus they serve great breakfast all day so its one of my fav places to eat at in Stephenville!

I really like a good local diner, and was excited to try this as it was highly recommended. As far as I can tell there is no redeeming highlights of this place. The service was slow and got our order wrong, the food was cheap cut corners,and the atmosphere was run down. I respect that they have been in business for so long, but perhaps need to take a breather and really evaluate how they can move forward in a positive way.

Reading some of the reviews, and more importantly the responses, I'm surprised. The owner seems to blame a slew of outside forces for issues ranging from the government to '"young people". I have worked in service for over 10 years and I believe that the issues they are experiencing stem from poor leadership and mismanagement.

I'm sorry but it just wasn't good.

Jack & Dorothy's Cafe is one of the worst restaurants I've ever eaten at. The service was incredibly slow, the so called "Third Best Chicken Fried Steak in Texas" was extremely bland, and the waffle fries were cold, soft and greasy. Overall an awful experience.

Always love a good steak! Got the steak for 2 splitting it with my husband, next time I'll definitely be getting the unlimited steak! Delicious! It was gone before we knew it and wanted more!
$1 burger night is always a cheap, easy route to not having to make supper. Makes great leftovers the next day as well! Delicious every time I go!

Sadly there was 3 waitresses. One brought us our salads no crackers. After trying to get our waitress attention several times we asked cashier who stood at the counter crocheting the whole time untill we got about ready to leave. She got our waitress to bring us crackers if you wNt to call them that. Usualy you get 2 packets of cravkers with a salad
Not this time we got only 1 each and she drenched my husband salad with the wromg salad dressing. Our waitress passed our table while going to acquaintance table to visit carring tea pitchers and never asked to refill our tea glasses or ask if everything was good or did we need anythimg elde. Not to mention the gravy was aweful and chicken fried steak was ok it was a little over coocked. Our waitress brought us our ticket didnt ask us if we needed anything or tea refill say Thank You. She just laid it on the table as she walked passed to sit with the others that were crocheting. However thecashier did come over to ask if we needed tea as we were leaving.
Sad we drove over 60 miles because Jake and Dorothys used to be our favorite place to eat chickengried steak.

Best Chicken Fried I've ever had! Livers and gizzards were perfect. And their Chocolate delight pie with the pecan crust was absolutely amazing! You'll love the friendly staff, definitely with the drive.

Local crowd kind of hometown Mamma cooked it stick to your bones kind of food. We have one similar back home known as 'The Pig".

Worst breakfast I've ever had. Food took a long time. Came out cold. Waitress got our food paid for. Didn't want a free meal I was hungry. Wanted to eat not get food for free that I didn't and couldn't eat. Hangery

Stopped in for $1 burger night (Tuesday) and was not disappointed.
Ordered the cheeseburger for an additional $.65 an order of waffle fries and a slice of cherry jubilee pie. Everything was great. My only issue was the fries were a bit undercooked for my liking. The service is exceptional.

Been coming for years. Travel all the way from grand prairie everytime we get the chance but this last experience made me feel like I had never been there before. Not sure if they are trying to save money in certain areas but they are definitely cutting corners all the way around.
