This little gem in Stephenville, TX is worth stopping when driving through town. On Tuesday nights you can get a Hamburger for $1.00 or a cheeseburger for $1.85. This is a cafe. This is cafe food. Nonetheless, it is good tasting food at reasonable prices.

The sodas are way too expensive. I remember the days when Jake and Dorothy's was a little more expensive then peacocks, but the food and drinks were great and still cheap. Why can't we go back to the by gone days?

This was definitely a local hangout as the waitresses knew many of the patrons by name. We had the breakfast special which was a great value. 2 eggs, meat and 2 pancakes for $6.95. The food was good, bacon crispy and generously-sized and the pancakes were average pancakes.
The diner needs some updating. It was very clean with old-school booths and tables.
It's a big restaurant and can seat large groups. The waitresses were pros.
I didn't like the coffee, I drink it black.

Stopped by on our way home. Dawn took care of us and was amazing. The service was phenomenal and so was the food. I had a burger and let me tell ya... it was one of the best burgers I'd ever had. Will definitely be going next time we're in town!

Truly made from scratch. There is no seasoning in the gravy or anything else for that matter, but add your own salt and pepper and enjoy! The chicken fried steak is wonderful!! Soft and fresh. I will be back!

Great food! Had a cheeseburger and onion rings. Rest of the family loved their food as well. Homemade pies were excellent! Waitress was very sweet and nice. The ONLY disappointment was the drinks. $2.25 for ONE can of Dr Pepper-no refills- is crazy! I'll eat here again, only drinking water!

Loved the old school feel of it, and the staff are wonderful! Super friendly. Best breakfast I've had in awhile

Jake and Dorothy's is fixing to celebrate their 71st anniversary. A testament to great food and pies.
I've never had a bad meal here. Don't expect fancy, just delicious eats!

First “hole in the wall” restaurant I’ve been to in a while. I had the chicken fried steak and waffle fries. Big serving! Friendly people.
