Jake & Dorothy's Cafe

I love this place. My mom and dad use to go on dates here back in their college days. My dad and I would always stop in when I was younger to grab a delicious slice of pie and cup of coffee on our way back from the sale barn. This place holds so many memories even though the only thing I order is the chicken fried steak and waffle fries.

Food was excellent for the price. Absolutely loved the biscuits, so biggest and fluffy! Will definitely go again on our next trip up. Service was a little slow, but they were busy. Pies looked delicious, and will definitely try next time!

Jack & Dorothy's is right out of the 50s. The food is well prepared, served with a smile and delicious. I hazard to guess that their coffee is the best in the area. I like to eat breakfast there.
It is clean and relatively handicapped accessible. It is not a fancy place. It is a good place. A coffee and pie with a friend place.

Enjoyed the lunch special—small CFS with three sides at the amazing price of $7.50. Great fried pickles and onion rings appetizers. We each tried a slice of pie—generous servings, delicious taste with excellent crust. Friendly service!

The food was wonderful. The tea is good and the food is good as well. The only thing that got to me was the waitress behind us killing flies with a flyswatter and not cleaning it up. That grossed me out and I started to leave but we decided to stay. The food was really good and fresher than what we were expecting.

Want to say good things but unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. Very busy when we arrived at 10 am . First thing when we sat at table was a roach scurrying around on table top. I squished it with a napkin and threw it in trash. Order was taken pretty quick but the wait for our food to be delivered was almost 2 hours. We had 9 in our group. Reason we were waiting so long was they ran out of eggs! Really!? Then when orders started coming out they were missing or had the wrong amount of bacon or wrong toast or missing gravy. I don’t think that we will ride back to this place. Food was ok not unbelievably tasty but decent. Experiences like this reaffirm why I prefer eating at home. Sorry but it’s the truth. On with our ride.

We were in Stephenville for they day and someone recommended that we try out Jake and Dorothy's cafe.

The place has an old school hole in the wall feel, which I can appreciate. I ordered the BLT and my girlfriend ordered the Club. We also got an order of fried mushrooms to share, because it's not every day you see that on a menu.

The BLT had maybe two slices of bacon, and was a rip off for $6.00. The club was mediocre at best, and instead of swiss cheese it had white american which is not the same! The fried mushrooms were mushy.

The chocolote meringue pie was good and HUGE, but the crust could have been better.

The service was slow, as there was only one waitress working. She gave us our ticket, which I couldn't read and when I get to the checkout it's nearly $50! Turns out she gave us the wrong ticket.

This place might have been good at some point but I wouldn't recommend.

Found this while out riding back roads eventually got hot and tired. Had a grilled chicken salad and lettuce fresh and crisp. Tomatoes nice red and juicy. Chicken grilled, juicy and tasty. I sucked down several glasses of their delicious iced tea and a few glasses of water as well. Could not resist the triple coconut pie for desert. It definitely has a spot in my favorites.

Breakfast was not very good at all. Pancakes were dry and overcooked. Sausage was also dry and lackluster. Service is good.

My husband loved the chicken fried steak and gravy. His parents loved Jake & Dorothy's, so it was a nostalgic trip to eat there. Still a great restaurant after first eating there about 30 years ago!!
