Everything is really good. The staff is friendly and the owner is always visible when I visit. Definitely worth the drive from Houston. I highly recommend the pancakes with mix-ins and the pecan coffee. I tend to come on Sundays and the wait can be long. However, there's complimentary coffee and water that make the wait much more pleasant.
PS. Marking my place in line on Yelp or by calling has been super helpful for me on busy days.

A friend of mine sent me a link to watch a video about the story behind the Red Oak Cake. The story was inspirational and the food looked amazing. So my daughter, granddaughter and myself decided to check it out. We went on a Thursday morning around 10 am. Wait time was 5 minutes. Service was quick and friendly. The food was fantastic!! I had the Big Breakfast. The hash browns are made fresh...the potatoes are grated and cooked perfect! Pancakes are soooo good, I added bananas and pecans to mine. Yummy!! My Daughter and granddaughter got French Toast, Hash Browns and Bacon. They loved it as well!
Good Food, Friendly Service and Clean Resturant...cant go wrong! Oh, don't forget to leave a message on the bathroom wall!!

Awesome food and service. Only suggestion is maybe some background music playing to offset crowd noise. It wasn't loud or overly hard to hear but just maybe an atmosphere enhancement. Otherwise outstanding! Be back soon!

I ordered the breakfast quesadilla and did not really enjoy it enough to take my leftovers home. There was way too much cumin or some other off seasoning that was too overpowering to be enjoyable.
Hash browns were tasty, as was the coffee, which was nice and strong...they way I like it!
Service was good; I would probably return and try other dishes.

This place was a great find in a city far from home. The food was tasty, really I said, "This is so good!"
My fiance and I stopped on the way back home from a trip to Galveston, we were looking for breakfast and I tend to use good ol' Google, pictures and reviews never lie. I found Red Oak Cafe. They certainly did not disappoint!
I had bacon egg and cheese breakfast tacos with hash browns. Two tacos and they were huge, full of bacon egg cheesy goodness, more so rolled and lightly browned on the griddle so they were more like a burrito when served but still tasty! And the hash browns were great, a different style than you would get at an IHOP or waffle house but I liked them.
My other half got the Messy Bowl. It was two biscuits, topped with hash browns, eggs, bacon, sausage and covered in gravy. He said it was "awesome"! He did his happy food dance, so....
It had a nice interior and vibe. Macie waited on us, she was great and gave good recommendations too! Will definitely go back if we make that trip again.
We failed to take pictures besides this one. The food was that good!! We just devoured it instead.

The food was incredible, the service was even better.
We joined the waiting list on Yelp before even leaving our house. Made it there in 15 mins and only had to wait an additional 5 for our table.
The server we had - Justin? (Guy with the awesome beard) - was absolutely phenomenal. I have never in my life had better service. The only thing that can compare was the service at my hotel on my honeymoon (that was $500/night). He was so friendly and helpful. Just a real stand up guy.
We ordered a short stack of pancakes and the kitchen sink quesadillas. The salsa was to die for. I wish they'd give us their recipe or sell it in jars - we would take 5. The pancakes were absolutely scrumptious.
I highly recommend trying this place out! We'll definitely be back.

Saw some good reviews to eat breakfast here. I saw there were people waiting outside and went in to hopefully put my name on the list for a party of 9. The host said there was a 45 minute wait and I was debating if we were going to wait or find somewhere else to go. There was another worker next to the host who rudely interrupted her and said “it’s going to be longer than 45 minutes, more like an hour and a half” as if I was not even standing there. I walked out and took my business elsewhere.

This cafe was bought out a while ago, and they're just as good as ever. It started as a family owned cafe with a loose christian theme, well known for their sweet cream pancakes and motivational post it notes decorating the bathrooms. Since being bought out, the menu had a couple items cut or replaced (I would specifically petition to add tall stacks of pancakes back to the menu), a few more tables were added, and the music changed from Christian music to more mainstream pop music. The tone of the restaurant has become a bit faster with more bustle, which is a slight shame considering it's previously relaxed and welcoming tone, but it's still got the best pancakes, like, ever, and an incredible pecan coffee. I respect the new managements decision to remove some of the Christian elements to make the place more marketable, but as a Christian and a fan of the stores origin, I am deeply appreciative that they left one reference in the store that connects their name to the Bible and to the late child the store was run in memory of. 10/10, best cafe to visit for brunch if you're willing to spend a little extra. I recommend splitting a big breakfast if you've got two people who like a variety and a small appetite, or just for one person if you've got a big appetite or like leftover pancakes- the pancakes make for amazing leftovers. Some people even prefer them cold the next day. Other notable items in their menu include, surprisingly, the kitchen sink omelette- which was still on the menu last I checked, and is very hearty and might be more your speed if you prefer a savory breakfast. I don't believe I've ever tried their lunch menu, so I have no comment on that in particular. All in all, amazing place to eat and I double recommend it for after the early service at church.

Nice environment, got the big breakfast which was in fact way to big for me, I had plenty of leftovers! Would recommend if in area!
