I tried so many incredible dishes. There was only one item I didn't like and the wonderful staff adjusted their offerings to fit my tastes. The caviar with truffle oil potato chips and creme fresh was a decadent experience. The waygu tartar was well balanced and tasty. The hot rock was rich and fatty (in a good way). I loved the mushroom, eggplant, avocado, king crab, taro cheesecake and so many other dishes. Try anything and everything. You'll probably love it. I highly recommend Uchi.

Uchi never disappoints when we want good quality Japanese food that is vegan friendly. There are a few things that we always order and then leave it up to our waiter/waitress to bring us whatever that is vegan.
How we celebrated our early Valentine's. I was so full from all the delicious food and it was worth my food belly.

We went to try the Omakase dinner. I would say that for sure is one of the best Omakase that you can find here in Houston. However compared to other Omakase in the US it is quite disappointing. If you compare it outside the US it's even worst. I never expected to be served some sort of hosomaki or in general a sushi wrapped in nori. The nori covers the taste of the fish and doesn't exalt the quality and freshness of the fish. While I understand that the term Omakase means to leave it to the chef, there are certain limits. Many of the Americanized sushi dishes that you see in the pictures below would disappoint any person who tried an Omakase dinner in other restaurants that are more traditional. I was not expecting to see Chili oil, lime and other sauces. Besides this the fish that we had was fresh. We had also Toro which was not the best that you can find but still ok. The restaurant was packed but the service was good with the server being attentive. The price was ok for what we had, there were some Toro, King crab and sea urchin. We'll probably try it again when there are less people to see if the next time the dinner will be a little bit more traditional.

Best place in the city for Sushi.
Been here couple times and chose tasting menu every time. They’re good in asking about your preferences before serving. They’re dishes are a bit on higher side of spice.
Fried Milk is must try dessert.

The best of the best.
As a self-proclaimed foodie, I love to try new restaurants and rarely like to eat at the same place twice. Unfortunately, this is not the case with Uchi. It has ruined me forever. As hard as I try to find a sushi restaurant that can even hold a match to Uchi, I always fail. Time and time again I'm disappointed and have to return back to the only place that can satisfy my sushi cravings.
Uchi even turned my boyfriend who used to loathe and was disgusted by sushi into a sushi fanatic. I swear by this place. If you don't want to develop a serious addiction, then avoid this restaurant at all costs.

Came here for my birthday dinner.
I was really happy after seeing so many vegetarian options. The ambience is not that great.
Onion rings were too huge and portion size was big but it was average. Initially the veggie nabe was not so good but after a while the rice started getting crunchy and that’s when we started to enjoy the dish.
The pitchfork and the Fried milk dessert were mind blowing.
Ofcourse it’s little on the pricier side but definitely feel like visiting again just for the pitchfork and the dessert!

Having recently returned from living and working in Tokyo, I knew that I had to give in to the hype and try Uchi for a birthday treat. Every dish was world class and the sushi was on par with the best that I've had in Japan. Having worked in the service industry, I can tell that they run a tight ship; all of the servers were well informed and Nick nailed it with his recommendations and rapport. Everyone did a great job despite the unique limitations brought by working during a pandemic, and I'm looking forward to my next visit.

We just had the best time with Esteban at Uchi. The food was delicious and playful. Esteban really went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable time. We can’t wait to come back to Houston!

We love coming to Uchi for date night especially when we are craving sushi. My to go has to be the eggplant and avocado. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time to reserve a table because this place can book up fast.

service is A1, top-tier, phenomenal. this is easily my favorite restaurant in Houston for sure. everything from Karen , the wonderful host , to Huan , my favorite waiter , to the food runners and table attendants .. Uchi is a well oiled machine where every worker is hands on involved in curating the most splendid dining experience for you. They don’t miss !!
