Uchi

Easily the BEST Japanese restaurant in Houston. If Michelin were to be rating in Houston, they will definitely get a Bib Gourmand or maybe even a shot for a star. If you go during Happy Hour from 4:30 - 6:30 daily, you’ll get to sample the some of their best dishes at a fraction of usual price!
My favourite: Nasu Nigiri!

Best Japanese cuisine I have ever had, and I have had Japanese from all over the world!
The staff was awesome, and the fried milk was a dream!

We got carry out, but the flavors were still outstanding. The Brussels sprouts never disappoint! We ordered the dinner for two and some extra Makimono zero Sen. It was PLENTY of food. We were so full that we had to eat the dessert the next day, which was DELICIOUS! This was my first time eating at the Uchi in Houston but it was just as fantastic as the Uchi and Uchiko in Austin!

We have gone to eat at Uchi a couple times in the past two years. It had been excellent, until recently.

Here is what happened, we get there, we were taken to our table, this table though it seems was placed in between two tables in order to maximize seating, there was literally no space, the people were like 10 inches away from us, the waiter only brought water and didn’t come back to get our drink order, so we’re just ignored, and at one point he came back to the table next to ours and he had his bottom in my fiancé’s face, that’s how close the tables were!!

So after a while we left, and before leaving out, we saw the waiter one last time and he just ignored us! This almost ruined our night, but we were able to find a restaurant nearby that starts with the letter H and ends with the letter O, and there we were treated very very well just like customers deserve!

This happened around 7 pm on Wednesday February 22nd.

Been to this restaurant many times. Pictures attached are across several visits. In my experience, the staff is as good as it gets. Everyone is extremely accommodating and professional. I voiced a complaint once where food was coming out very slowly. I brought my family (party of 4) here when they visited and we were getting a small dish every 15 minutes (so everyone gets 1 small bite every 15 minutes) did not make for a very pleasant experience. The manager was extremely apologetic and I believed more than made up for it. I went back several times after that. The food is great, but pricey. If you get only small dishes, your bill will rack up very quickly and won't be very full. You can order the Hana (friend cauliflower) and/or the karage as fillers (both are delicious). For dessert, fried milk. Only dessert I've ever had here. Will be the only dessert I ever order here. Every time I go, it's one fried milk for everyone. Get it.

One of the best meals and experiences we've ever had! Hudson was spot-on with his recommendations. If we're back in Houston, we will definitely come back, at least once!

Incredible sushi place! I have to say the service was impeccable, that is the first thing that comes to my mind. The waiters are attentive and are constantly removing your finished plates, refilling your water and asking if we would like anything else. My sushi chef was attentive, gave great recommendations and was pretty quick as well. Every plate he put out tasted amazing, was presented well and clean!

Excellent food. I have been to Uchi in Dallas which itself is pretty great but this one is also amazing. Getting reservations can be very painful but worth waiting. Food is exceptional, very creative. Drinks are good too. Service can use some improvement.

The food is great in here, just a little expensive. We spend about 400 dollars for a group of 4! So be wise when you are going to this place. Also, they serve their food with breaks in between(5min ish for one dish idk). Would recommend but be careful how much you are spending!
